The Alpha’s Bed

Rain poured heavily over the Silvermont territory by the time they returned to the mansion. Kira’s clothes were damp, her hair sticking slightly to her skin, but she barely noticed any of it. Not when Kieran kept looking at her like that. Like she belonged to him already. The moment they stepped inside, the warmth of the mansion wrapped around them. Thunder echoed outside while servants quickly disappeared from sight the second they noticed the Alpha’s mood. Smart. Kieran hadn’t taken his eyes off her once since the forest. And honestly? Kira wasn’t doing much better. The tension between them had only grown worse. Or better. Depending on how she wanted to see it. “You’re cold,” Kieran said quietly. “I’m fine.” “You’re shivering.” Before she could argue, he stepped closer and pulled off his dark jacket, draping it over her shoulders carefully. The scent of him surrounded her instantly. Cedar. Smoke. Rain. Danger. Kira looked up slowly. “You’re staring again.” Kieran’s gaze moved over her face shamelessly. “I can’t help it.” The honesty in his voice made her chest tighten. Thunder shook the mansion again, and instinctively, Kira stepped closer to him. Kieran noticed immediately. A faint smirk appeared on his lips. “Scared of storms?” “No.” “Liar.” Kira rolled her eyes softly, but before she could reply, another loud crack of thunder echoed outside. This time Kieran laughed quietly when she moved closer again. “Don’t say a word,” she warned. “Wouldn’t dream of it.” But his hands were already settling on her waist again. Warm. Possessive. Kira looked up at him, suddenly very aware of how alone they were. The firelight flickered across his sharp features while rain tapped softly against the windows behind them. Everything felt strangely intimate. Dangerously intimate. Kieran brushed his fingers lightly along her jaw. “You should sleep,” he murmured. Kira’s heartbeat quickened. “Every time you say that,” she whispered, “you look at me like you want the opposite.” His expression darkened instantly. Slowly, Kieran backed her gently against the wall near the fireplace, his hands resting beside her head. “Careful,” he said softly. “You keep provoking me.” “And if I am?” The tension snapped. Kieran kissed her deeply, his body pressing against hers while one hand slid firmly to her waist. Kira melted into him immediately, her fingers gripping the front of his shirt as heat spread through her entire body. The kiss became slower. Hotter. More dangerous. Kieran’s forehead rested against hers when they finally pulled apart, both breathing unevenly. “You have no idea how hard it is to stay patient with you,” he admitted roughly. Kira’s cheeks burned. “Then maybe stop trying.” A low growl escaped him. “Kira…” The way he said her name made her knees weak. For one dangerous moment, neither of them moved. Then Kieran suddenly lifted her effortlessly into his arms. Kira gasped softly, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck. “Kieran—” “You need sleep,” he murmured against her ear. “But not in your room?” His gray eyes darkened with amusement and hunger at the same time. “That’s exactly why it’s a bad idea.” Yet he still carried her upstairs toward his room anyway.
