Aria's POV
The glass trembled in my hand as I took another shot.
“Another one.” I said to the bartender.
“But that's your eight glass.” He said in a concerned voice. “I didn't ask you. Give me another.”
“No!” He said firmly.
“No?” I asked, surprised.
“Do you have anybody you can call to pick you up?” He continued.
I laughed. “Nobody cares about me. Now, are you going to give me the shot or not?” I glared at him
He didn't say anything.
“Fine! I'll report you to your boss for poor customer service.” I said, storming out of the bar.
My chest felt tight in the cold night breeze. I could still feel the burn of the alcohol but it didn't ease or numb my aching heart.
I walked aimlessly down the street, still thinking of what went wrong between me and Damon, when I heard a whistle.
“What's a cute little bunny like yourself doing alone on the street? Are you lost?” I heard a sleazy voice say.
My heart skipped a beat and I turned towards the voice. I saw three figures walking slowly behind.
I ignored them and walked faster. Big mistake
“Whoa, whoa, you don't need to be rude. We are being friendly.” The chubby one said, as they caught up with me.
My heart was racing, I was drunk but still sober.
They already circled me and I finally spoke up
“Move, please. I'm heading home.”
One of them laughed. “Oh, come on. You must have a little time for us.”
“You look like you had a rough night.” The tallest one said, looking at me in a way that made my skin crawl.
“Back off.” I finally snapped. Stepping backwards but my back hit one of them and he held me.
I yelled. “Let me go”
“But you came into me, princess. You are so tense” he said, holding tighter unto me.
The chubby one walked closer and licked my face.
I screamed as they held my hands.
“The lady said you should let her go.” A deep cool voice rang out.
We all turned towards the voice, there was a man there. He looked tall and athletic. I couldn't see his face due to the shadows and my instincts immediately kicked in.
“Help!!!!” I yelled.
Two of the men stepped towards him.
“Dude, just move along and pretend you saw nothing, ok?” One of them said, and they turned back to me.
“Are you deaf or I'm not loud enough?” The man asked again.
Just as the chubby one was about to answer him, he got punched square in the face.
“s**t! You motherfucker, you'll pay for this.” As he charged towards the man, he got slammed into the floor. The rest of the men charged towards him too and the mysterious man shifted.
“Lycan.” I muttered to myself in surprise. It's my first time seeing one.
“He's a werewolf.” One of the crooks said in fear.
The massive wolf growled and bit one of them. The others scrambled in fear. He finally let the mauled man go. And he ran as far as his injured leg could carry him.
I was still on the floor, breathing heavily out of fear and relief.
The man shifted back and finally stepped into the light.
“f*****g humans.” I heard him murmur.
He is handsome. Very handsome.
He turned towards me. “Hey, are you okay?” I nodded, already feeling l the alcohol kick in.
Why now?
He helped me up.
“You're a werewolf too. Even though your scent is very weak. Why can't you protect yourself?”
I didn't respond. I just kept staring at him.
“Hello?” He said, waving his hand in front of my face. I swallowed hard.
“Water.” I said, surprising even myself.
“I need water.” I said in a shaky voice.
“Are you alright? Have you been drugged?” He asked, looking concerned.
“No, I..I just…I just had too much to drink.” He nodded and he led me out of the alleyway.
We walked towards a black sleek car. I'm assuming it's his.
“He opened the door and sat me down in the car and passed me a bottle of water from the car door. I took it and gulped it down.
He got into the driver's seat and turned to me. “Where do you live? Let me drop you off.” My stomach dropped at the mention of home. I can't go back there. Not tonight.
He is looking at me in anticipation.
“I'm Aria.” I said with a smile.
“Okay, Aria. I'm Lucian. What's your address?”
Lucian. What a nice name.
“I'm not going home tonight.” I croaked out.
“Is it me or is it hot in here? Can you put on the AC, please?” He is still looking at me strangely.
He let out a sigh and put on the AC. I took a deep breath and leaned my head against the head rest. His car smelt of spice, cologne and something masculine.
I turned to him. “Thank you for saving me. I'll be out of your hair.” I stepped out of the car. As I took the first step, I swayed.
“Aria!” I heard him call out.
He stepped out of the car and steadied me. You're drunk and you want to wander the city alone at this time?”
“I can't go home, okay? Not tonight. So, please just let me go.”
He nodded.
“Get in the car.” He commanded, already making his way back to the driver's side.
“Uh?” I asked, confused.
“You don't expect me to let you wander or let you sleep on the street, do you?”
“Get in the car, Aria”
I smiled softly and got in and he drove off.
I was looking at the city lights passing by the window when I finally turned to him. He was devilishly handsome. He had a small scar across his eyebrows. And I impulsively reached out to trace it. I don't know why, but maybe the alcohol is making me bold.
He stiffened.
“What happened here?”
He didn't say anything, his fingers just tightened around the steering wheel.
As we drove in the underground parking lot of his house, I knew he was rich. Very rich.
My vision is already becoming hazy. He held me and walked me towards the elevator. I leaned into his touch.
I looked up to him and I don't know what pushed me, I kissed him.
