Secret Love

Chapter Nine

I woke up at 6 am and did my daily routine. When I finished, I look at the time and saw that it was only 8 am.

"I still have two more hours." I said to no one. "I'll just take a walk for now."

As soon as I opened the door, Jake was gonna knock at the same time and his hand stop in mid air.

"Oh my... you scared me." I told him and he just shrugged.

"Mind if I come with you?" He questions.

"Of course I don't mind, do you even need to ask?" I smiled and he shrugged playfully.

"I don't know, I thought you might have forgotten me."

"Whatever, that will never happen." I gave him an unexpected hug and he flinch in surprise. "What brings you here by the way?"

"Well I was just going to tell you that summer break is almost over and school starts in three weeks time after John's operation." As soon as he said that, I pouted because I remembered that I had to stop last year due to lack of money.

"Lucky you." I commented and he went in front of me.

"And I might have... accidentally... enrolled you and John at Newton Academy." He said and I widen my eyes.

"What! Jake we can't be enrolled becaus-" He cuts me off.

"I already paid for your tuition fee. Surprise!" He shouted and I shook my head.

"No Jake, we can't accep-" I got interrupted again.

"Let me talk first, I was going to help with John's operation as a payment of him saving my little sister before but you said give that one to you so I just used the school to pay both of you back." He explained.

"But Jake, you didn't have to-"

"I know I didn't have to but we're all family here. My sister won't hang around with you anymore if you don't let me do this."

"Bu-"

"No more buts, we are now fair and square. An eye for an eye so stop with your buts." He ended the conversation and I sigh in defeat.

"Fine, thank you so much." I put him into a hug and he hugged back. "I'm so glad to have you as my best friend."

"You should be cause you'll never find anyone like me." He chuckled and I punch him slightly on the shoulder.

"Yeah yeah whatever."

"Sarah!" A familiar voice called my name.

Me and Jake both looked at the same direction and saw Simon in his car.

"Oh what's up Simon!" Jake called out but Simon ignored him.

Simon did a head gesture that tells me to get inside his car which I did.

"I need to go Jake, thank you again!" I waved goodbye and he did the same.

"Good morning." I greeted Simon after I got in the car but he ignored me. "Hello? I said good morning!"

He just glance at me.

"You might have woken up at the wrong side of the bed." I commented and he raise an eyebrow. "It's just a saying."

"Who was he?" He finally spoke.

"Jake? Well he's my best friend. The bestest friend anyone could ever had!" I replied and he tch-ed.

What's up with him?

"What's your problem? Why are you so angry early in the morning?" I ask him.

"I don't like anyone in my property." He answered and I got confuse.

"The road wasn't even your property back there, it's for public property." I commented and he just rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. Dumb Bastard."

"I have a name thank you very much."

"Yeah, Maid Bastard." I pouted at what he said but chose to ignore it because I remembered my position.

When we arrived at his house, I started doing my work. Cleaning the library, cooking but he's the one who cooked so I only helped him and then there's cooking lunch for everyone again. I didn't talk to him because of the recent event.

"Look, I sorry for what I said earlier. Just... not having a good day." He apologise while we were walking towards the kitchen and I sigh.

From that moment, my anger disappeared.

"It's fine, I understand." I smiled and he let out a sigh of relief.

"So what were you two talking about?" It was him who asked me.

"Just about school, he enrolled me in Newton Academy. One of the best school ever and it starts in three weeks!" I replied happily.

"Oh so you not working here in three weeks anymore?"

"No, I'm only here for two weeks."

"I see."

"Hey don't be sad, I'll still come and visit." I smiled which made him smile.

He was about to say something but he was stop when we saw Jericho at the entrance of the kitchen.

"Hey there, it's my turn to hang-out with my Love." He lick his lip which sent shivers down my spine.

"You no have rights to claim her." Simon went in front of me.

"Then why are you with her?" Jericho took a step forward.

"None of your business." Simon held his stance.

"She's going with me whether you like it or not!"

"You got to go through me first!" Simon clench his hand into a fist and was glaring so hard towards Jericho.

Now I get it, when he is angry, his grammar is much better!

"Fine." They both have a glaring contest and the tension around us was so scary and awkward.

Okay, what's going on?

"You guys! Why do you always argue?! Remember the rules?" Shane came to the rescue again, which made me sigh in relief.

He toss something in the air and Jericho caught it. The tension was still scary and the two of them were still glaring at each other.

Now what?

Jericho tossed the coin in the air which confuse me.

"Tails!" Simon claimed and Jericho caught the coin.

"I'll go with heads then." Jericho sneered as he revealed the coin, which shows a tail.

Without saying another word, Simon held my hand then drag me away from Jericho and into the kitchen.

"What was that about?" I ask him.

"The what?" He questioned.

"The 'coin' choosing heads or tails?"

"Here in this house, if someone argue, we decide by coin." He explained and it took me a while to figure it out.

"Oh, I see... weird but scary." I nod in amazement. "Alright! What are we going to cook?"

And once again, we started setting up the ingredients, me chopping this and that while he do the finishing touch. Since I finish slicing the ingredients, I got bored and look at what Simon was doing. I then saw a tomato sauce opened and that gave me an idea. I walk towards it and Simon saw me.

"What are yo-" Before he can finish his question, I grab his hat then placed the tomato sauce all over his face and hair.

Now his face is as red as tomato.

"Why you..." Before I could even react, it was too late for me.

He already spread the tomato sauce on my face and after he was satisfied, he laugh at my face.

"There, now fair." He smirk then took a photo of the two of us before he went to wash his face and I did the same.

"I was just bored." I stated and he smiled.

"I know." He shrugged. "And... done." He said and I admired what he just cook.

It was a lasagne! And once again, we served it to everyone.

"Yay! Simon cooked again!" Shane cheered and he looks at me then mouthed 'Thank you'

Even though I have no idea what he was talking about, I still smiled. When everyone had their food, Jericho stood up and walk past us.

"I'm not hungry." He said then he looked back at me but Simon went in the way like a shield, making him scoff.

"Don't expect to win all the time because my time will come." He said and I heard the door being slam shut.

"Well, more for me!" Shane took his food and started eating.

Me and Simon went back to our seat and we all ate in silence. It was awkward but soon Stella broke the silence.

"Don't worry about him, he's just disappointed. And as for you..." She locked her eyes on mine "Don't go walking around the house alone..." he then look at Simon. "And you, always make sure to be by her side."

"Tch. You no need to tell that." Simon scoff and since this was a serious talk, I was beginning to worry what I got myself into.

What do they mean about not walking alone and being by my side? Is... Jericho that dangerous?

After we ate, me and Simon went to wash the dishes again but this time, I wasn't in the mood to do something. I was thinking about what Stella had said to me.

"Don't worry about him, he's just disappointed. And as for you..." "Don't go walking around the house alone..." "And you, always be by her side."

I wonder, is Simon the only one who can match Jericho? I mean, sure he's the real son but it seems like only Jericho is the one who always pick a fight with Simon. On top of that, why is Jericho always picking a fight with Simon when he was just adopted? I mean, Simon is the real child.

"You alright?" Simon ask, snapping me back to reality.

"H-huh? Oh yeah, I'm alright. I'm just fine." I fake smile and he seems to bought it.
