I woke up to the sound of rain as it tapped softly against the windows. The soft patter of rain hitting the windows filled the room while grey morning light slipped through my curtains— spreading across my room.
I stay beneath my blankets for several seconds, what muscles aren’t already numb are currently aching. A dull soreness had settled into my shoulders, thighs, and back.
I groan as I roll onto my back. “Never again.”
A laugh escapes me as I remember saying that yesterday too
I force myself upright to look out the window.
The mountains ahead had already disappeared behind a curtain of rain— rain streamed down the window, blurring the forest into shades of green and grey. It felt peaceful and for a while I sat and listened, taking in the momentary peace.
