SUBDUING THE SOVEREIGN

Chapter 5

I looked down and saw that the rest had left.

I quickly raced towards them, pushing my brother before me.

He might as well stay in the rear where I can protect him.

In a few minutes, we entered the forest and began racing out of the territory, trying our best not to be seen.

I heard someone move and quickly shot an arrow at the spot.

A hunting dog fell down.

"Run, they're nearby" I shouted.

Pushing my brother along with the rest while watching our back.

As we reached a diversion, we heard the thundering of hooves behind us.

"They're close. Madison, go distract them while we escape" Jennifer ordered.

I looked at her in disdain.

I had already planned how to leave with my brother and abandon them.

What a joke!

"What do you mean? She's also the Beta's child? Why ask her to buy time for others? She's not the only guard here!" My brother said angrily.

"This is an order from your masters. Obey!" Cain roared at me.

Jennifer chuckled and unleashed the blood guard curse.

I laughed at her.

Her eyes widened.

"Why's the curse not working?" She stammered, making everyone look at her in shock.

"I'm no longer a blood guard. So ask nicely and think twice" I said angrily, reaching for my brother.

But Cain beat me to it and grabbed him, Jennifer immediately stabbed him with a black needle making my heart jump.

"Go distract them or I won't give him the antidote" Jennifer said coldly.

I was enraged, I felt like killing them.

"How dare you?" I roared, my eyes reddening.

I grabbed my brother and cut open my hand, hurriedly trying to absorb the poison, but some had entered his blood stream.

According to my speculations, if he doesn't take the antidote in five days he will die.

"Give me the antidote" I said coldly.

"If you obey the order, we will save him. He's the Beta's son after all" Cain said calmly.

"He's your future Beta, your friend. How can you watch him get hurt?" I said to him angrily.

I didn't trust their promises, so I placed my mouth on my brother's, giving him my wolf's bead. The essence of my wolf.

It's enough to keep him healthy for a year.

I quickly whispered to him, pretending to comfort him.

"Pretend to be very weak. Don't let them know you've recovered. Stay safe. With the wolf's bead, I will find you soon. Look for purple ice fruit and wales flower, it's the antidote. Wait for me okay?"

I looked up at them teary eyed and saw the satisfied smirk on their faces.

"Please protect my brother" I whispered and helped him to his feet.

"You don't need to worry about that. He's the Beta's son after all. We will all escape to safety" I saw the coldness in my brother's eyes and signaled him to calm down.

I gave his hand to Cain who held him.

"Leave!" I said coldly and fixed my daggers to the sheath on my waist. My double sword and arrow pouch was already on my back. I unstrapped my bow and picked an arrow on my back, running towards the approaching army to obey the last order.

I looked back at my brother, wondering if I will see him again.

They hurriedly continued their race with only my brother looking back at me.

I looked away and ran towards the approaching soldiers.

I flew to the top of a tree and began to shoot them down with bitterness.

This was my fate.

A blood guard, meant to kill and sacrifice for others.

I jumped down into their midst and unstrapped my sword, slashing them without mercy.

But they were a formidable army.

I felt another group of soldiers approach me.

I slashed again, taking two heads down and stared at him.

He was on a white horse, in white armor and helmet.

There was a bow in his hand.

I looked at it and immediately recognized it from the book of legendary weapons, Heaven's mandate bow.

But I can't escape, I need to remain here.

I continued fighting, sneakily changing positions and using his men as shields.

I felt an arrow fly into my back and turned gasping, another flew into my heart.

This was not like other arrows I have been shot with, it was literally burning my internal organs. More kept raining down.

I rushed towards a nearby cliff trying to escape whilst killing more.

Another arrow flew into my back making me fall to my knees.

I forced myself up on my sword and turned.

Just then, I saw the man teleport before me and stab my heart with a white sword.

My vision blurred, he stabbed my belly again with a short dagger before kicking me into the stony valley.

The last face I saw was my brother's.

Will he survive now I'm dead?

Because I know for sure that this is the end.

"Your highness, wake up!" I heard someone calling and shaking me.

I opened my eyes to see a beautiful young girl.

I looked at myself as she helped me up and noticed I was dressed in expensive silk.

"Hurry, the wolf king is almost here!" She shouted, drawing me up.

"Excuse me? Who are you?"

I asked in confusion.

"Princess Hailey! Please stop this. There's no time. I warned you not to escape from your wedding, but you insisted"

Wait?

What? Did I get reborn?

Just then sounds of hooves thundered.

She left me and hurriedly began to hide things.

"I can't remember anything. What happened?" I asked her.

But before she could answer me a young masked man in expensive vicuna wool and silk robes stopped before me, an army behind him.

He rushed to me and hugged me.

"Princess, are you alright?" He said, cuddling me.

I was confused. What?

"That's your husband. The royal wolf king. I just pray he won't discover what you did. He will definitely kill you" I heard her voice transmission in my head.

What? Did I get reborn only to enter another death row?

What the hell did Princess Hailey do?

LORD KELVIN'S POV

I stared at her maid Neriah as she kept pointing at my mate's head, insinuating she's crazy.

There was a huge gash on Hailey's head. She's still bleeding.

I looked at her in confusion and looked down at my mate who was looking up at me with a mixture of curiosity and confusion.

She reached for my mask to remove it and I gently removed her hand.

I gently set her aside and moved to her maid, grabbing her maid's hand and taking her to a corner.

I glared at her and she began to talk hurriedly.

"We went for a ride while waiting for the stylists, her horse threw her off and she fell off a cliff. By the time I found her and pulled her back. She was already unconscious. I managed to wake her up, but she couldn't remember anything after waking up. Not even her name. I swear I was not the one that hurt her"

I sighed and walked back to my mate.

I waited for decades to find her, only to find out I was mated to a little girl that's barely eighteen. I fell in love with her at first sight. But sometimes, I feel she doesn't like me. Despite my efforts to pamper and spoil her.

At least, she's okay.

I had thought she was kidnapped when I felt her running. I had been so frightened that I left the wedding procession and went after her.

My Gamma arrived with his men and glared at my mate whom I wrapped in my arms.

"She was not kidnapped, she had planned to elope with Ethan Carter, the Beta's teenage son of the silver streak territories. She planned to leave you stranded on your wedding day. Ethan is in our custody now" he said angrily.

My heart jumped.

Humiliation and pain washed through me.

I looked down at my mate and saw her looking at me in panic.

My body shook.

She wanted to cuckold me. I, the king of werewolves! I breathed out and flung her off. She yelped in pain, but I couldn't care less.

The pain I feel now is nothing compared to that. That's the reward of my unconditional love, being cheated on.

I will deal with her for this humiliation.
