THIRST

CHAPTER THREE

"YOU'RE GETTING A NEW DORM HAZEL!!"

I'm sure Hell had loosed. I don't know how but I know hell loosed when mum recovered from her shock. She couldn't believe what her eyes had seen back at my dorm. A boy in all girls hostel on the first day of school is the last thing I expected to see but I guess it's a normal thing here in college since everyone here looks calm as if they were used to it already. Well except for my mum who kept ranting all over the hall.

Embarrassed that we were creating a scene, I followed her tugging her on blazer. "Mum it's fine I can manage." I said almost in a whisper but it seem mum is too busy to hear me as she glared at the receptionist who kept on picking up files upon files, yet had no answer to my mum's request of getting me a new room.

"I'm sorry ma'am, there's no vacant room. All the dorms are currently occupied". The woman explained wiping off the beads of sweat on her forehead.

"DONT TELL ME THAT!!" Mum yelled.

Somehow I felt pity for her cause the old lady looked tired, at the same time I felt pity for myself cause I was the victim too. Soon mum would be gone and I'd be alone to face the humiliation of being called a kid. For a moment I take a look at the face of the staring at us. Some laughed silently others shamefully laughed out while whispering amongst themselves.

Sighing I tug at my mum's shirt again. "Enough of this already, I'm twenty now, I can make my own decisions by myself, Not because I'm in support of what we'd seen down there but the last thing I want right now is to create a name for myself when I've just registered into the School, besides am a Scholarship student, it wouldn't be nice of me to create a rukus here". I let my breath out after having to explain to her why she needed to calm down which actually worked cause she look at me in a calming manner.

"But those kids need to be disciplined". She rubbed her temples in distress.

"I said am fine mum. There's no need for all of these" I said as she finally calm down and we walked outside the building where we'd just walked in and immediately she started a pep talk. "Look hazel I don't want you around those kids, all I want is the best for you, for us. Don't follow their steps they'll lead you astray, you understand me right?" She asked.

"I know. Trust me" I assured her.

After what seems to be hours of listening to her pep talk about parties and estrange college life, with a final kiss mum finally left complaining that she had an appointment to catch up with which left me heaving a sigh of relief.

Walking back to my dorm, I was about to open the door when the door flew open itself and Linda drag me inside taking a brief sober look at me This time around she's now fully dressed in a black cleavage revealing blouse and red leather skirt.

"I'm really sorry hazel, I never meant to make your mum mad with my appearance, I'm sorry for putting you through that stress". She said as she hugged me briefly.

"Easy Linda you're choking her".

I jumped at the sight of another person in the room. No four persons, three boys and a girl including the guy from earlier, and they're More of Linda. When I say more of Linda, I mean almost all had their body tattooed except one who had only a tiny ring Pierce her nose but no tattoos, she is reading a novel while the rest were either pinging away or focused on the movie with bubble gums in their mouth.

Linda sighed as she made her way to sit in a tiny space left on the bed. "Sorry I was carried away, meet my friends hazel. Chad, Austin, Drey and Carrie". She said pointing at them one after the other.

"Hi pretty." Carrie spoke up waving her fingers at me.

"Hmm...Hazel" sounds like those names in a demon story cast. The one whom I guess was Austin chuckled and everyone laughed except Linda and drey who looked too engrossed in what he was doing, he has this dark aura I can't really decipher. Like he was the leader or something.

"Cmon guys, show some respect, she's my roomie". Linda rolled her eyes.

"Okay guys it's time." Chad clapped as everyone got up picking their bags and stuff. Where are they off to. I wondered in my mind as I watch them like a human a webtoon character come to life but no answer came, they all stood up and walked towards the door.

"See you around haz". Carrie winked.

"Skirts in college? Are you a choir mistress?" Austin whined as they matched past me.

"Move it Austin, I told you to show some respect" Linda pushed him out of the way as she glanced at me " I'm sorry hazel we have to go now, I'll see you later dear". Linda patted my shoulders stepping outside with the others as the door clicked shut.

Okay! This is not what I was expecting on my first day at school!
