Episode 11: The Moment They Meet Again

903 Words
“It’s been a while… since I walked like this…” Gi-woo let out a soft breath as she walked beside Sunao. The spring breeze brushed her skin, carrying the scent of blooming flowers. The streets were calm, lined with soft pink trees. Peaceful. For the first time in a long time— She felt like she could breathe. Sunao glanced at her and smiled. He had liked her from the very first moment he saw her. Not because she stood out the most— But because something about her felt real. Warm. And even now— He still couldn’t say it. Kim Sunho was the kind of man people noticed instantly. Tall. Handsome. Confident. But none of that mattered. Because for him— It had always been Gi-woo. Whenever he looked at her, he smiled without realizing it. And being near her made everything feel calm. “Ji-woo…” he said. She turned slightly. “Did you finish your work abroad?” “…Yeah,” she nodded. “I’m back in Korea for good.” “That’s good.” A brief pause. “It was boring without you,” he added quietly. Ji-woo chuckled. “Do you remember this place?” he asked. “We used to come here a lot.” “… Of course, I remember.” Silence lingered. Then— “Hey,” Sunao said more seriously. “You never answered my question before you left.” Ji-woo frowned. “What question?” “… About the girl I like.” “Oh… that?” She smiled lightly. “Then why haven’t you introduced her to me?” Sunho’s heartbeat quickened. “S-soon…” “I’ll introduce you soon.” His hand tightened slightly. “… Because that girl is you, Gi-woo,” he whispered under his breath. But she didn’t hear it. … Inside a moving car— Daniel suddenly opened his eyes. “Stop the car.” “Yes, sir.” “I’ll walk.” Every time he walked— He ended up at the same place. The old house. Nothing had changed there. Except him. Years had passed. But standing there— Time felt frozen. “… There hasn’t been a single day,” he whispered, “…when I don’t think about you.” “I tried…” “…I tried to find you.” Silence. “…But I can’t.” … The next morning— “Good morning, Secretary Yun.” Yun blinked. “… Mr. Kim Sunho?” Sunao smiled. “When did you return?” “Recently.” “Is my brother inside?” “Yes, sir.” Sunao walked in. “Miss me, hying?” he said with a grin. Daniel looked up. For the first time that day— His expression softened. “When did you get back?” “Just now.” “You’re still the same.” “Of course.” Daniel exhaled quietly. “You’re the only family I have.” Knock. “Come in.” Secretary Yun entered. “Sir, new applications.” Daniel reviewed them. “No.” “I’ll keep searching,” Yun said. Sunao leaned forward. “Aka… I have someone.” Daniel raised an eyebrow. “Oh?” “You can trust her.” “Your girlfriend?” Sunho paused. “… Something like that.” “Then bring her.” “It’s a surprise,” Sunao smiled. “I’ll introduce her tomorrow.” … That day— Gi-woo stood in front of her parents’ house. “Gi-woo, my daughter… you came,” her mother said warmly. “I’m fine, Mom.” “You should move back home.” “I’ll think about it…” “Your father isn’t back yet.” Gi-woo smiled faintly. “…I admire him.” “Then work with him.” She shook her head. “I want to succeed on my own.” They talked and laughed. For a moment— Everything felt normal. Then— The doorbell rang. “That must be your father,” her mother said. Gi-woo opened the door— And froze. “Hellooo, auntie—” “…Sunho?” “Ji-woo? You’re here too?” “…Yeah.” Something shifted. … Later that night— They had dinner together. Warm. Like a family. As Sunao was leaving, Gi-woo followed him outside. “I have good news,” he said. “What is it?” “I found you a job.” Her eyes widened. “…Really?” “Yeah. We might work at the same company.” “How?” “Be ready tomorrow,” he said. “I’ll pick you up.” “…Okay.” Her heartfelt lighter. Hopeful. … The next morning— The company was busy. “Come on,” Sunao said. They entered, took the elevator, and stopped at the office. Knock. “Come in.” The door opened. “Aka… the person I told you about—” He stepped aside. “…is her.” Silence. Daniel looked up. Their eyes met— And everything— Stopped. His breath caught. “…Ji-woo?” The name slipped out— Like something he had held onto for years. She stood there. The girl he had been searching for— All this time. And she— Looked at him like a stranger. 👉 Why doesn’t Gi-woo recognize him? 👉 What really happened 10 years ago? 👉 What will happen next?
