Chapter Three: She Was Discovered Missing

1006 Words
Marina managed to regain her balance and shot Noah a glare. "What is your problem? Can't you see you almost hurt someone?" Right from her aura to the way she talked, Noah never appreciated it and she happens to be the first person to annoy him after he was set free. "Are you sent out of your house? Is that the reason why you are dressing here?" Marina felt hurt by Noah's statement and she stepped closer, her voice low and fierce. "And you think you have it all figured out, don’t you? You’re just another entitled brat who thinks he can judge everyone else." "Entitled? Ha! You wouldn’t know what real struggle looks like," Noah shot back, his frustration rising. "You’re just playing the victim while I..." "While you what? Sit and brood?" Marina interrupted, her voice rising. "Get over yourself! You don’t know a thing about my life." Marina hated the fact that the man in front of her acted like he knew everything about her, which wasn't true. Noah took a step forward, invading her space. "And you don’t know anything about mine. Do you think your problems are the worst? Try living in my world for a day" Both of them were sending daggers to each other, and their pressure arose in anger. Marina felt a sharp sting from his words, anger mixing with something deeper—hurt. "You don’t know me, and you don’t know anything about courage." Noah shook his head, dismissing her. "And you don’t know how the real world works. Someone like is very little in comparison with me" With that, he turned away, leaving Marina fuming, feeling a mix of anger and confusion. She had expected help, but instead, she felt more trapped than ever. As Jericho returned with the lubricant, he could sense the tension hanging in the air. "Everything okay?" he asked, looking between them. "Nothing, thanks," Marina replied through gritted teeth and collected the lubricant from Jericho. Noah's voice came out as he called Jericho's attention, sending disdain across to Marina. "Be fast Jericho, I don't have time to waste on the street" "Okay, boss." Jericho quickly helped Marina and bid goodbye. "Thanks so much, Mr Jericho. It's a good thing to meet someone like you." Marina also sends an indirect message to Noah, who understands immediately. Noah shot her a look of contempt before climbing back into the car, leaving Marina to simmer in her anger. In a lavish luxurious setting room, tension was hanging in the air. "I'm asking you, where is my daughter? Huh! You are all useless!" Mr Bennett has thrown turmoil for the umpteenth time after his daughter was discovered missing. In the same room, Ava faces downcast as she awaits the judgment that is best for her. "Ava! Since when do you become incompetent huh? How did you allow her to leave your sight?" Mrs Bennett also shouts at Ava, adding more tension to the air. Ava stood at the entrance, her expression unwavering despite the panic in the room. “I... I don’t know, sir. I was with her until....” Mrs. Bennett shot up from her seat, her face flushed with a mix of anger and concern. “You were supposed to protect her! How could you let this happen?” “I did my best, Mrs. Bennett,” Ava replied, trying to maintain her composure. Mr. Bennett’s voice rose, his eyes narrowing. “You’ve failed us, Ava. This isn’t just a child playing hide and seek. She’s about to marry Nathan, and she runs off like a rebellious teenager!” Ava clenched her fists, fighting the urge to defend herself. “I understand your anger, but I assure you, I was vigilant. I promise to find her" "Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Ava. If we don’t hear from Marina soon, I’ll ensure you regret this day” Ava's heart raced knowing the weight of Mrs Bennett's words. She might appear nice and act nicer at times, but no one dared to joke with her mean words because she truly meant it. Meanwhile, in an opulent mansion, a lot of preparation has been made as Nathan gets ready to meet his fiancee. In a room that appeared like a presidential suite, Nathan was standing in front of the mirror as he examined himself, having the best smile on his face. “Mr. Bennett! You need to hear this!” Nathan’s expression darkened as he turned to face the assistant. “What is it?” “Marina’s missing. Her parents are panicking, and they suspect something is seriously wrong.” The news hit Nathan like a punch to the gut. “Missing? What do you mean?” “They believe she’s run away. They’re blaming Ava, her bodyguard, for not keeping her safe” Anger surged through Nathan's body instantly as the news was delivered to him. "How did they allow such a thing to happen? Huh! Can someone give me an answer right now?" Nathan punched the mirror, and his hand started bleeding. "Gosh! Argh!" At that moment, Nathan's mother, Olivia entered with a worried look. "Nathan, is something wrong? What is happening?" When Olivia saw Nathan's bleeding hand, her mouth opened in shock. "Oh my goodness! What have you done to yourself?" In a full rage, Nathan roared in response, causing Olivia to flinch and step back. "Mom!!!!! Marina is Missing!!!!" "What? That's impossible! Today is the day you are supposed to meet each other!" Nathan turned to his assistant and muttered firmly. “I want every resource at my disposal. Contact my private investigator, and mobilize a search team. I need to know where she is.” “Yes, sir!” the assistant replied, scrambling to follow his orders. Nathan clenched his fists, his mind racing with possibilities. He couldn’t understand why Marina would leave, why she would put herself in danger. But one thing was cl ear: he would find her, no matter the cost. That's his decision and also his determination.
