Sky

“I was out for work, so I don’t know what happened in here before I arrived.” “When I met you near the stairs, I arrived from outside,” Atlas replied while walking around the castle while Ivy followed him behind. “I was in my room as well. I wasn’t aware of anything.” “Let’s see where the servants are at.” They walked out of the main gate roaming their eyes here and there. “As I thought,” Atlas added, placing his hands in his pocket. “There isn’t anyone here.” “But why?” she asked, stepping closer. “I guess the servants have gone along with Father and Queen. But where would they be at this time?”. “You don’t know?”. He nodded in disapproval. “I had work in the outskirts of our kingdom. I came back after finishing it. I don’t know anything else.” “What should we do then?”. “Mmm….well….”. “If there was anything dangerous, then Father surely would’ve notified me.” “They might be in a condition where they couldn’t notify you. We should go and check them out.” She insisted with a panic-stricken face. He glanced at her and sighs. “I get where you are coming from, but-“. “Don’t let him run away!” someone yelled from a distance. They became alerted to hear the voice. The bushes near them made rustling noises. Atlas stood in front of Ivy so that she might not be exposed to danger. “Stay close to me. I can sense danger,” he added, keeping his eyes focused on the bushes. “What? Danger?”. The bushes made even more noises and then suddenly something jumps out of them. Atlas was ready to attack any moment, but then his eyes widened in shock. Something came running in his direction and pushes him onto the ground along with Ivy who was behind him. With a loud thud, they both fell onto the ground altogether. All the servants and a carriage arrived. Liam and Martha came out of there running toward the source of the noise. What they saw was a white wolf with a fluffy tail hovering over Atlas while licking his face. Atlas opened his eyes to see the white wolf snuggling onto him like a baby. “Sky, what are you doing in here?” he asked the wolf. The wolf barked at him only, licking his face as if to console him. “Um…I can’t see anything,” Ivy murmured underneath him. Atlas recalled that Ivy was right behind him. “Uh, sorry. I’ll get up right aw-“. He could feel the sensation of something soft hitting his back. “What’s this thing? It’s so squishy, just like a pillow.” “I can’t breathe!” Ivy said with the remaining strength left in her body. “Forgive me!” he added, getting up from her body right away. “You kids! Are you alright?” Martha yelled, walking over to their side. Liam and Martha saw Ivy eating dirt while lying on the grass. “Yes, I’m alive,” Ivy added with dizzy eyes. “Can anyone help me get up?”. Atlas grabbed Ivy’s hand and helped her get back on her feet. “Are you fine?”. She nodded, glancing over at the wolf who stood next to him. “What’s this?”. “Sky, come here!” Liam called with an angry face. The wolf became startled and clutched onto Atlas’s clothes right away. “Dad, don’t yell at him,” Atlas replied, patting his head. “Or else he’s not going to listen to you.” “Do you know what he has done?”. “No, I’ll hear about it, but for now, leave him with me.” Martha nodded, turning to Liam. “I think that’s for the best as well.” Liam glanced over at the wolf, then stared at Atlas and sighs. “Fine then, anyway.” “Don’t attack him,” he said to the servants who had accompanied them. They were all ready to attack Sky any moment now. “Let him be free for the moment.” The servants left by themselves leaving them all alone. “Why’s he being attacked?” Ivy asked turning to Liam. “Did he do anything wrong?”. “Kind of,” Atlas added, smiling at Sky while patting his head. “Let’s go inside for the time being. I’ll explain everything on the way,” Liam said turning to Ivy and Atlas. Ivy nodded and followed them inside. They went to the big hall and sat all together. Martha sat next to Liam, and Atlas and Ivy sat across them with Sky sitting on his lap. “He became violent and started attacking one of the servants,” Liam said pointing to Sky. “Then ran away after making a big mess of his cage. That was when servants informed me as you were out of the house. I went along with the servants as if he had used too much of his power then something bad would’ve happened.” “Then after running around the nearby shops he came back to the castle and that’s how everything went.” “He’s quite a troublemaker, it seems,” Martha chuckled a bit while saying that. “You don’t know how much trouble he makes for real yet, Liam replied. “You’ll get to know soon.” Ivy stared at Sky intensely with quite an interest. Sky looked at her, then adverted his eyes away. “Why do you do these things Sky?” Atlas asked, glancing down at it. The sky remained silent. “I think you should go and put him in the cage again,” Liam said. “This time the casualties weren’t great, but who knows what he can do.” “Let him stay for a bit, then I’ll go and put him in the cage myself,” Atlas said, holding onto him tightly while staring at it with compassionate eyes. “Do what you like.” “You must be hungry Martha. What about you Ivy?”. “Uh…” Ivy glanced at Atlas before turning to Liam. “I’m hungry as well.” “Then let’s go and eat up. It’s quite late already.” “Sure, what about you?” she asked Atlas. “I’ll eat later, you get going with them.” “Uh, sure.” “Make sure to eat though.” Ivy left them sitting on the couch by themselves. While eating the maids served them food. The short maid came and served them some juice. “Um, His Highness, I had something to report.” She said, clearing her throat. Liam turned to her while eating, “What is it?”. “Young Master Asher is coming in the evening. He said that he’s sorry for being late.” Ivy stopped eating after hearing the news. “And where’s he wandering around this time?” Liam snorted. “In the outskirts of Goth. He said he found an interesting businesswoman who wanted to provide us with fruits and veggies at a low price. That’s why, he’ll be making the final deal and then returning.” “Did he send someone with the news?”. “No, that was written in his letter which arrived this afternoon.” “Oh, at least this time he’s doing something sensible.” “Tell him to meet me after returning. I want to hear everything from his mouth.” “I’ll make sure to convey this message.” The maid bowed and left. “Was she talking about the second triplet?” Martha asked. Liam nodded. “You’ll meet him when he comes. I don’t want to talk about him at the moment.” “Asher….. I’ll get to meet my second brother as well,” Ivy stared down at the bowl of soup in front of her. “Is he just like Atlas?”. "But, why do they keep Sky in a cage? he's just an animal, isn't he?". "Should I ask Mom about it later?". Liam looked at Ivy. "Have you gotten used to life at the castle though?" he asked while eating. Ivy stopped eating and pondered over it for a second before responding. "Yes, a bit." "It's just your first day. Don't worry about it. You'll get to love it soon." "Are you able to stay by yourself in your room?". She nodded. "This is my first time having my room. But, as Mom says, it's good to experience new things and I'm doing just that." Liam was a bit surprised to hear her talk like that, but then he smiled and looked at Martha. "Your teachings do have an impact on people. I kind of envy that about you." Martha laughed, "This is nothing. She just loves to brag about me. That's all." "Everyone loves their homes and families. With time, I'll be able to love this place just like I used to love Rosemary," Ivy said, continuing to eat. But she didn't notice Liam's silence when she said that line. "Not everyone loves their families though," he whispered with a sigh. Martha noticed that but said nothing in response. "I'll be able to meet my second brother soon. I want to get used to this unknown life of mine. Then I won't have trouble talking with people here like I used to do back there normally." "I can't be the same here as well." "Do your best, Ivy!".
