Just as Lannette wondered, “Why’s Dad here?” Thomi’s purple Mustang pulled up behind the Nova. She and he exited their respective automobiles at the same time.
And then all of us girls uttered a shocked and surprised, “Oh!”
Irvy looked across the top of the Nova and called out, “Jace’s car died in the rec center’s parking lot. I’m heading over to give him a boost. Anyone interested in coming with me?”
“You’re asking us?” I asked in total disbelief. Especially for the fact he could be there for me.
“Yes, Joleigh, I’m asking you!” He came around to the other side of the car and opened the door, waiting expectantly. His eyes met mine across the way. My heart did a few more flips.
