Momma Anna wiped her hands on her apron, her warm gaze landing on Remi. “Now, chère,” she began, voice softening, “how’s your mama and daddy doin’? I haven’t seen them since that big dinner a month ago when they came by to celebrate you comin’ home. They seemed proud as can be. I’m glad you talked these two troublemakers into comin’ back with you.” Remi smiled faintly, stirring her coffee. “They’re good.
