The laughter slowly faded.
But the bonds didn’t.
They were getting stronger.
Much stronger.
Will felt it first.
A sudden warmth moved through the room.
His wolf went completely still.
Then his eyes locked on Remi.
He could smell it.
Something had changed.
Her scent was different.
Stronger.
Sweeter.
And unmistakably tied to the mate bond.
His wolf rose instantly.
Heat.
Will’s entire body tensed.
“Remi.”
She looked at him.
“What?”
Will stepped closer.
“You need to stay near me.”
Remi blinked.
“Why?”
Before he could answer, Trey suddenly turned toward Rae.
His expression changed.
His wolf was already pacing beneath his skin.
He could smell the same change coming from Rae.
Heat. Mate. Protect.
Trey immediately moved closer to her.
Rae stared at him.
“Why are you suddenly standing so close?”
Trey glanced around the room.
“Because I don’t want any other males near you.”
Rae’s eyebrows shot up.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
“Trey, we’re in the pack house.”
“I know.”
“And there are people everywhere.”
“Exactly.”
Rae stared at him.
“You’re being territorial.”
“Yes.”
“At least you’re honest.”
Trey’s wolf growled softly.
Our mate.
Rae’s eyes widened.
She could hear him.
Again.
She tried not to laugh.
“This is going to be a problem.”
Trey looked at her.
“You have no idea.”
Across the room, Elijah had gone completely silent.
His eyes were fixed on Del.
He could smell it too.
The subtle change in her scent.
The warmth of her awakening.
His wolf surged forward.
Mate. Heat. Protect her.
Elijah immediately moved to Del’s side.
Del looked up at him.
“You too?”
“Yes.”
“You can smell it?”
Elijah nodded.
“Your scent changed.”
Del’s cheeks warmed.
She glanced at Remi and Rae.
Both were watching her.
Remi suddenly smiled.
“Oh.”
Del narrowed her eyes.
“Don’t.”
Rae grinned.
“Oh, she’s definitely going through it too.”
Del pointed at her.
“Don’t start.”
Remi laughed.
“So this explains why everything suddenly feels…”
She searched for the right word.
“Intense?”
Will’s eyes remained on her.
“That’s because the bond is accelerating.”
Remi looked at him.
“And you can smell it?”
“Yes.”
She stared at him.
Then at Trey.
Then Elijah.
“So all three of you knew before we did?”
Trey nodded.
“Our wolves recognized it.”
Rae crossed her arms.
“And what exactly does that mean?”
Trey looked around the room.
“It means I’m not letting any male get close to you.”
Rae stared.
“You’re serious.”
“Completely.”
She smiled.
“That’s kind of adorable.”
Trey’s eyebrows lifted.
“Adorable?”
Rae nodded.
“You’re acting like a guard dog.”
Trey’s wolf practically growled in agreement.
Protect mate.
Rae giggled.
“Oh, he agrees.”
Trey groaned.
“Please stop encouraging him.”
Remi laughed.
Del shook her head.
“This is ridiculous.”
Will looked at her.
“You haven’t seen anything yet.”
Del turned toward Elijah.
“Are you going to start guarding me too?”
Elijah didn’t hesitate.
“Yes.”
She blinked.
“Seriously?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re going into heat.”
Del’s face went bright.
“Elijah!”
Trey started laughing.
Rae covered her mouth.
Remi burst out laughing.
Elijah looked confused.
“What?”
“You can’t just announce that!”
“Why not?”
“Because!”
Elijah shrugged.
“It’s a fact.”
Del groaned.
“I blame you.”
Elijah smiled.
“How is that my fault?”
“You shouldn’t be so hot.”
Rae immediately nodded.
“Agreed.”
Remi laughed.
“Absolutely.”
Trey looked between them.
“So we’re blaming the men again?”
“Yes,” the three women answered together.
Will shook his head.
“You’re all impossible.”
Remi smiled at him.
“And yet you’re still standing right there.”
Will’s expression softened.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
The words hit harder than Remi expected.
Her smile faded slightly.
The bond pulled.
Stronger.
Closer.
Her wolf stirred beneath the surface.
She could almost hear it.
Mate.
Remi’s breath caught.
Across the room, Rae suddenly felt Trey move even closer.
She looked up at him.
“You’re still guarding me.”
“Yes.”
“From who?”
Trey glanced toward the doorway.
“Anyone.”
Rae laughed.
“That’s excessive.”
“Maybe.”
His voice dropped.
“But my wolf isn’t taking chances.”
Elijah was doing the same with Del.
And Will never seemed to let Remi drift more than a few feet away.
Three Alpha wolves had recognized the same thing.
Their mates were entering an early supernatural heat brought on by the rapidly strengthening bonds.
And their instincts had one simple command.
Protect. Guard. Stay close.
Rae looked around at the three brothers.
“You know you’re all being ridiculous, right?”
Trey shrugged.
“Probably.”
Elijah nodded.
“Definitely.”
Will simply looked at Remi.
“Doesn’t matter.”
Remi raised an eyebrow.
“Why?”
His wolf answered before he could.
Mate.
Will’s eyes darkened.
“Because you’re ours to protect.”
Remi’s heart skipped.
Rae looked at Trey.
Del looked at Elijah.
The three women exchanged a knowing glance.
Then Rae sighed.
“Fine.”
She grabbed another cheese stick.
“But if we’re going through this…”
She pointed at the three Alphas.
“…you three are responsible for snacks.”
Del laughed.
Remi nodded.
“Agreed.”
Trey smiled.
“Deal.”
Elijah shook his head.
“Of course.”
Will sighed.
“I knew food would become involved.”
Rae smiled.
“Food is fuel.”
And just like that, the tension broke.
But the Alphas never stopped watching.
Never stopped smelling the changes.
Never stopped keeping their mates close.
Because something had awakened between all six of them.
And the bonds weren’t finished.
Not even close.
