The Choice

The room barely had time to breathe. Another wave hit. Hard. Remi gasped as pain ripped through her, knocking the breath from her lungs. “Will—” She grabbed his shirt. Will caught her immediately. “I’ve got you.” Across the room, Rae cried out. Trey was beside her before she could stumble. “Rae.” She clutched his arms, holding on tightly. And Del— Del grabbed Elijah’s shirt and buried her face against his chest as another wave crashed through her. All three women struggled to breathe. All three Alphas felt their wolves fighting desperately against their control. Mate. Help her. Protect her. Complete the bond. Will held Remi tighter. Trey wrapped an arm around Rae. Elijah steadied Del. For several seconds, nobody spoke. Then the three women looked at one another. A knowing look passed between them. They didn’t need words. They already knew. Rae slowly looked at Trey. “You know…” Her breathing was still uneven. “But you’re an idiot.” Trey blinked. “What?” Remi looked at Will. “You’re an i***t too.” Will stared at her. “Remi—” Del lifted her head from Elijah’s chest. “And you’re definitely an idiot.” Elijah frowned. “I haven’t even said anything.” “That doesn’t matter.” Rae nodded. “Definitely an idiot.” Trey looked between them. “I’m starting to think this isn’t going where I thought it was.” Remi gave Will a tired smile. “We heard what your wolves said.” Will went completely still. Rae looked at Trey. “We know what needs to happen.” Trey’s expression immediately became serious. “Rae, you don’t have to—” “Yes.” She stopped him. “This is our choice.” Trey stared at her. Rae reached up and placed her hand against his cheek. “I choose you.” Trey’s breath caught. Across the room, Remi looked directly into Will’s eyes. “I choose you too.” Will’s wolf went silent. Completely silent. Remi continued. “I know what this means.” Will’s voice was barely above a whisper. “Remi…” “No.” She shook her head. “I’ve spent enough of my life letting other people make choices for me.” Her fingers tightened around his shirt. “This one is mine.” Will’s eyes softened. “You’re certain?” Remi nodded. “I am.” Del looked at Elijah. “I choose you too.” Elijah stared at her. “You understand that once the bond is completed—” “There isn’t any going back.” Del finished for him. “I know.” Rae nodded. “Same.” She looked at Trey. “If we do this, you’re my mate.” Trey’s voice was quiet. “Forever.” Rae smiled. “Good.” Trey blinked. “Good?” “I’ve already decided I like your wolf.” His wolf practically roared inside him. Mate. Rae laughed softly. “See?” Trey smiled. “He likes you too.” Remi looked at Will. “And yours?” Will’s expression softened. “He’s been waiting nine years.” Her heart clenched. Nine years. Nine years of believing Will had hated her. Nine years of thinking she had never belonged. And now she understood there had been something else beneath all that pain. Something neither of them had known how to handle. She reached up and touched his cheek. “I wish you’d told me.” “I should have.” “You should have.” Will lowered his forehead to hers. “I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure you never doubt where you belong again.” Remi’s eyes softened. “Then don’t let go.” “I won’t.” Nearby, Del smiled at Elijah. “You’re still hot.” Elijah laughed softly. “Even now?” “Especially now.” Rae groaned. “Seriously?” Remi laughed. “You’re both impossible.” Del smiled. “So are you.” Another faint wave moved through them. But this time, it felt different. The pain eased beneath the certainty of their decisions. Three women. Three Alpha mates. Three choices made freely. Rae looked at Trey. Remi looked at Will. Del looked at Elijah. They knew what came next. They knew the bond would change everything. They knew there would be no pretending afterward. No walking away. No denying what fate had placed between them. They would belong together. Not because anyone forced them. Because they chose each other. Trey gently took Rae’s hand. “Are you sure?” Rae squeezed his fingers. “Absolutely.” Will looked at Remi. “One last chance to change your mind.” Remi smiled. “No.” She stepped closer. “I’ve already made my choice.” Elijah looked at Del. “And you?” Del wrapped her arms around him. “I choose you.” The three Alpha wolves finally settled. Not because their instincts had disappeared. But because their mates had chosen them. Mate. The word echoed through all three bonds. And then— The supernatural energy in the room surged. Magic shimmered around Rae. A faint golden warmth flickered around Del. And Remi felt something wild awaken beneath her skin. The bonds tightened. The room seemed to hold its breath. Three choices. Three mates. Three bonds about to become permanent. And there would be no going back. They had chosen each other. And now fate would seal it.
