Chapter Eleven The next day, Marie learned she had a new case. A man had been found murdered in an unlocked apartment. Her assignment was to join the forensic team, who were already on site. When she arrived, the dead man lay flat on his back with a bullet in the middle of his forehead. The bullet was a 9mm. Ballistics would be able to tell if it had been fired from a registered weapon. She pulled the man’s identification from his wallet and noticed it had no cash. The man’s name was Ronny Kirkpatrick. It sounded familiar. Marie furrowed her brow, trying to remember where she’d heard it. After a moment, she remembered him from the landscape store.
