Evie and Tamara came over after Camilla got off work. They kept her company while she fixed two grilled cheese sandwiches and downed a Coke. When she offered to feed them, they declined, telling her they’d already eaten.
She munched a snack bag of chips along with her sandwiches. When she finished, she’d have a bowl of ice cream for dessert. Camilla loved ice cream, especially chocolate mint. She knew she shouldn’t eat so heartily. That was why she was chunky. But since she was already slow-witted and unattractive, it hardly seemed to matter.
“I told her what you said today,” Camilla said when she’d finished her meal and they were sitting on the sofa
“Told who?” Tamara asked.
“The police lady. She asked about Mr. Martin and if he’d tried to make me his girlfriend.”
