Changing of the Guards

Kiara stared down her scope, her eyes scanning the horizon for anything and everything that might come their way. She knew it wouldn't be long before her and Kodama were moved again. Everytime they got comfortable, the Sarge always moved them again. Hell Dogs couldn't get attached. The shift in the wind made her uneasy and she turned zoning in on the figure she thought she saw coming towards her from the bunks. She sighed a touch when she realized that it was Kodama coming to relieve her. Kodama moved so swiftly it was as if she was teleporting from spot to spot, her feet barely touching the ground. She was an assassin and though that job was no new thing to her, being apart of the elite was. Fresh of face and ready for new experiences, she had joined the military, and when she was enlisted, she was almost instantly recruited for the elite squad. The Sarge had smiled at her and just nodded. "She's perfect." Kodama had been enlisted for a little over six months now and her journey had been a Rollercoaster. Sarge had paired her with Kiara and their bond had been almost instantaneously formed. Kiara looked after her like a little sister and Kodama looked up to her like a big one. Kiara taught Kodama everything she knew and Kodama showed her how to make bombs without altering their allotment, something she had always been good at. Kiara learned Kodama's deepest secret and after only 3 months, Kodama learned hers. Sarge grinned when he saw them together, his hunch that Kiara needed someone to keep up with her had been spot on. Kodama spotted Kiara, the red dot on her hairline a symbol she was safe. She picked up her pace and then stopped suddenly. Kiara's aim had wavered and Kodama knew she had felt it too. Someone was in their base that should not be. As they both realized this, an alarm sounded on the far side of the base and Kodama started that way before stopping dead in her tracks. She smelled something... Something that should not have been. She turned back around and called out. "KI! WATCH YOUR- uh," the force from which she was struck from the side sent her flying a few feet, the culprit pinning her to the ground. Kiara watched as Kodama went down and went to ring the alarm. But, a second later, she was pinned as well. She struggled for her boot knife, as one arm was pinned to her side, and the other held her sniper. The creature before her was a Ki-Vera general, that much she knew. He was blue, with black horns that curled behind his head in a triangular shape with straight white eyes and fangs that glisented in the pale moonlight. "F**k off," Kodama said digging in her heels and bridging almost making her head touch her grounded heels, something which threw the creature off. "This won't do... You were not who I was after," he said looking from Kodama and up to Kiara. That was when Kodama saw she was in trouble. The creature was still looking up at Kiara and that was her chance. She flipped to her feet and used the force to tackle the creature who tackled her. Now that he wasn't blocking the little bit of light they had, she saw that he was not really a creature... Not like the other things she had fought before. He looked almost human. His skin was red of course and his eyes black pools that reminded her of things she didn't want to think of. She punched him one good time and the shock in his face as his eyes closed made her grin. He had obviously never been knocked out by a girl before. She started towards the tower, opting to climb the side. She heard them struggling and snuck to the roof behind the creature before using all her body weight and force to kick him out of the high tower. If he had been human, the fall would have killed him. Kiara held Kodama's hand as she dangled from the tower for a few moments. "You know you're heavy?!" Kiara groaned as Kodama gained her senses again and pulled herself into the tower. "Sorry...who were those creeps?" Kodama said as she slowed her breathing and looked at her friend with concern. "Ki-Vera Generals," Kiara said through gritted teeth and Kodama looked down and saw the Ki-Vera had grabbed and draw blood when he made contact. "Medic?" Kodama said a touch of dread in her voice. She felt the adrenaline fading and that a few of her ribs were tender when the General had connected with her on the ground. She and Kiara descended the tower, and both Generals were gone. "Kiara... Is that normal?" "They are aliens and brag about being the alien supersoilders ... I think it's very normal for them. Come on, let's get this over with.
