5 YEARS LATER
Aurelia's POV
I hummed softly while painting. I was working on painting the cat that was in my first book. When I received that, I told Rhamon I liked cats. Even though I never saw one in real life, they intrigued me. They acted dependent on their owners even when they were not.
I heard the doors opening but continued painting when I felt a hand touch my shoulder. Turning around, I looked at Uncle Rhamon and smiled. Then I saw someone else behind him and scowled. "Who is that?"
Rhamon turned and smiled, beckoning him over, "This is my-... friends.. son." He spoke calmly, trying to think of what to say. "Since I am ever so busy my dear, he will be coming down here to see you at least once per week. I hope you'll find that he is quite enjoyable to be around.
I looked at the boy. He seemed to be around my age. He had brown hair and muddy eyes like Uncle Rhamon. "Okay.. Are you staying for dinner Uncle?" I asked, pouting a bit. It had been ages since he ate with me, so I knew he would probably say no to my request.
Uncle Rhamon coughed slightly, "I cannot, tonight Aurelia, due to work. But Samuel here would be delighted to." I rolled my eyes after looking down. I wasn't supposed to do that because it was disrespectful, but I was annoyed. I didn't want to eat with SaMuEl. I wanted to eat with Uncle.
"B-But you haven't eaten here in so long, Uncle." I cried, "You never pay me any mind anymore. I don't want to eat with this boy, I don't even know him!"
Rhamon growled and walked over to me, he grabbed my hair, making me look into his eyes before speaking, "Do not talk back to me! You will eat with Samuel. You do not have the right to question what I do!"
I started to cry at the pain he was causing and nodded. "Apologize to Samuel." My uncle said before tossing me down to the ground."
Sobbing and stuttering I spoke, "I-I'm sorry Samuel.. I'd love to eat with you." My voice was hardly a whisper by the end of it, but this cause both of them to smile.
"Perfect. You two enjoy yourselves." Uncle Rhamon said before leaving.
I sat on the floor for a second, crying silently before wiping my tears off my face and standing up. "I'm sorry for the way I behaved Samuel.." I mumbled while watching him look at my painting before eyeing my flower garden.
Samuel smiled at me with a beautiful grin. "It's no problem Aurelia." He said before plucking one of my roses from the bushes I had, walking over to me. "I understand you don't want to eat with me." He put the rose in my hair after brushing my hair back with his fingers.
I felt the rose before replying, "I-I do want to eat with you... I just.. nevermind." I smiled softly and walked over to the kitchen, grabbing the picture of lemonade I had in there. "Do you want some lemonade?"
After pouring lemonade in my glass, I looked at him and he responded, "I would love some. I am parched. Did you make it yourself?" He asked, intrigued.
I poured some lemonade for him and then handed him his glass, "Yes. I make all of the juice and food I have. It used to be given to me but Uncle Rhamon wanted me to start doing it myself a few years ago." I said nonchalantly.
He takes a sip before smirking, "Well, I think it's quite delicious.. Aurelia." Samuel was a bit cocky it seemed, but she would just have to deal with him so she didn't make Uncle mad.
"Well, that is nice of you," I replied before beginning. I was going to make Alfredo, so hopefully Samuel liked it. "I'm sorry Samuel. Unfortunately, I don't have much for you to do while I make dinner."
"That is okay. I can just sit here and admire your face." He tried to flirt but I just turned around so he was facing my back. Why would I want to flirt with someone I just met? He scoffed before speaking again, "I see you like cats."
I turned around to look at him again and nodded. "I hate cats. They're rather small, annoying and weak, I'd say. My mother kept one around when I was little and I killed it when I was older. She wasn't too happy with me but nothing she could do about it." Samuel rambled cockily, causing me to shudder and roll my eyes before continuing with what I was doing.
After about thirty minutes, dinner was done and I was putting the food onto plates. "Sit at the table please." I requested and placed the plates on the small table. The table technically could seat six but only ever sat a maximum of two. I sat down and started eating my food after Samuel. Fortunately, he wasn't talking too much now. It was getting annoying.
"Did you know that you're beautiful Aurelia?" Samuel said after eating a large bit of his food. I was hoping he wouldn't talk at all, but I suppose we can't always get what we want.
I sighed and nodded and continued to eat. He wasn't "quite enjoyable to be around" as Uncle Rhamon had said. Then again, I was starting to think Uncle Rhamon was delusional.
"Your hair is especially beautiful, it suits you very well..." He smirked at me with a gross smile. I didn't want to know what he was thinking. Just then, I heard the door open and saw Samuel stand up. "Looks like its time for me to leave darling." He said before kissing me on the cheek and walking out. The door shut behind him.
I ran to the bathroom, growling softly and turning the water on. I scrubbed my cheek to get rid of anything he left behind. I might not have known him very long or well, but he seemed like bad news. Why would Uncle Rhamon bring him here?
Uncle Rhamon has been doing a lot lately that has made me start to question him and how much I should trust him...
