SCARLETTE I wondered if he was going to stay tonight or not. The clock marked eight in the evening, yet there was no sign of him. No calls. No text. I was contemplating calling Devy, but I might disturb them, so, patiently, I sat on the bed and waited for him to come home. Come home? I scoffed at myself. This house wasn't his home, and if he didn't appear tonight, it shouldn't be a concern to dwell on my thoughts. Last night, we slept next to each other. He was gentle most of the time.
