Ralph's POV
To be single at 40 is to have your friends bring you new she-wolves every week and try to force you to make a choice. Some I dump after a one-night stand, some I date for about 3 months, and then the relationship ends.
I don't think I was built for this romantic nonsense, I'm a lone wolf. "Our pack needs a luna," Anne said, handing me a glass as we sat in the lounge drinking and chitchatting.
"Whoa! Relax," I exclaimed. Moonlight wasn't an official pack, at least not yet. I built that estate and created a new settlement for all rogues but I still didn't consider it a pack yet.
"Why?" Anne queried me.
"We're just a bunch of rogues living in a human society, what do you need an alpha and luna for?" I said sarcastically. Anne looked pissed off. "But Ralph, you know our community views you as our leader. That's why we elected you as our mayor, so you can protect our interests in this city. That's what an Alpha does for his pack-protection and providing."
"So what is the name of our pack? The rogue pack?" I asked sarcastically again.
"You chose moonlight, remember?" When I was banished my pack and formed this city, my intention wasn't exactly to form my own pack and rule but for some reason it seems to have happened by accident.
"Don't worry, I promise that you will like this girl, it will not end in three months like all your other relationships." She assured me. I chuckled but then paused when I saw why she had said that.
A beautiful and curvy she-wolf walked up to us, and my wolf began to act irrationally. Maybe it was because of the way she was dressed. She was in shorts that accentuated her curves, a blouse that only covered essential parts of her boobs and most importantly she was beautiful.
"Hi, I'm Melody." She extended her hand for a handshake. I shook it slowly and then I got lost in her eyes. This was definitely going to be another one-night stand, a magical one. I was starving anyway I hadn't had any action going on for me recently.
"Sit with us Melody," Anne said.
"Looks like the Alpha likes you already." Melody giggled and joined us,
"he looks even more handsome in person," she whispered to Anne.
"I heard that." I playfully responded and she giggled again.
"Should I excuse you two?" Anne mind linked me.
"Erm... I don't know." I linked back.
"You will like her, trust me. She's fun." She linked me back and quickly got up to deny me my protesting rights.
"Enjoy the party Loves." She kissed Anne bye and trotted away. Melody rolled her eyes seductively at me and flashed a clean smile at me, she leaned closer and her boobs did a little jiggle, I stared at them and back at her.
"So Melody, what do you do?" I asked trying to strike up a boring conversation that would eventually lead to something sensual then she would end up in my bed like every other girl.
"I'm a meteorologist and if you watch the news frequently you'll notice that I give updates every Tuesday and Thursday night." She proudly answered my question.
"I've never seen you before, but I think it's because I listen to the news in the morning instead of the evening," I replied and only realized that I may have been a little bit rude because she went red in the face. It was like she expected me to know her,
"I'm sorry did I say anything wrong?"
"No, you didn't, I must've overestimated my popularity." She replied. "Well, I also own a..." I wasn't listening to her, my senses were tingling, I smelled something familiar, the scent of someone I knew or maybe didn't know.
I thought the scent would get stronger so I could make out who it was but it didn't, it just kept getting faint. "Can you excuse me for a second? I'll be back." I said to Melody and made my nose lead me to the source of the scent.
"He's seen our IDs and yet he says we can't go in so let's leave." A familiar voice was saying to another person, she sounded a bit upset. It must've come from the entrance so I hurried in that direction.
"We're not kids, okay, let us in!" The other voice yelled. "I already told you that the party is not for the likes of you. It's for only dignitaries of this society." The bouncer said.
"What is this, a cult?" The familiar voice asked. I used my super speed to get to the entrance trying to understand what was going on and the faces behind the voices.
"Al..." the bouncer almost called me but stopped. So I guess those two ladies weren't werewolves. I drew in a deep breath, of course, they were not, what was I thinking?
"What's happening here?" I asked the bouncer. "These two ladies want to join the party inside even after I denied them entry. They don't seem to understand the requirements for entry."
The frustrated bouncer narrated to me. I looked at the ladies again then that was it I could recognize the other one now, it was the lady from yesterday who took my 100 bucks. Did she use it to buy that dress and some makeup for the party? Because she looked very different from the last time I saw her.
She was indeed beautiful, but what did she want? Why was she here again? What did Cory owe this girl? I had to get to the bottom of it. I pointed at her, "Have we met before?" She seemed to freeze when I spoke to her, was this girl alright?
"I can't do this," she said to her friend and started to hurry away.
"Stop right there!" I unintentionally barked, freezing her in her tracks.
