Chapter 31

1024 Words

SERENA’S POV The wolf came at me before I could take another breath. Four hundred pounds of gray fur and muscle flew straight at my face. I didn't think. I threw my body hard to the right, crashing onto the frozen floor. Yellow teeth snapped shut on empty air, right where my neck had been half a second ago. The beast landed heavily on its front paws, spun around fast, and swiped a massive claw across my side. The sharp nails tore through my thick coat and sliced across my left arm. I instantly felt a sharp, burning sting on my flesh. I felt blood trickle down my arm, dripping onto the pale rock. I scrambled backward on my hands and knees until my back hit the cold cave wall. There was nowhere left to run. The wolf stood ten feet away, panting hard, licking my blood from its front paw.
