Arcanis angrily growled when we both heard the knock at the door. He could sense two wolves outside the door.
“Who is it?” I asked as I turned to Nuru, who looked guilty.
Nuru’s voice wavered with guilt as she confessed, “I called Adrian.” We had barely finished our discussion, and I was about to be whisked away from her. The two unwelcome scents wafted into my nose as she left me in the kitchen and went to unlock the door. I had overstayed my welcome.
