Damien was barely out of the door before Adrian turned to me.
“Did you know about him?’’ he asked. I was still reeling from the discovery myself.
“No, I didn’t. “ I replied. Adrian’s eyes narrowed as he studied my face for any signs of deception.
“Are you sure?” he pressed, his voice tinged with suspicion. I nodded, irritated.
“I already said I didn’t,” I replied as I walked away.
“I hope you are not lying because I don’t want to regret doing this for you,’’ he continued.
I went ahead and walked into the bathroom, leaving him outside. As I closed the door, I felt angry.
