Everyone’s eyes turned to me. Gideon was the first to speak.
“How is that possible? I shifted when I was sixteen. If Kara came to you at the same time that Curran came to me, then it would follow that you should have shifted at sixteen as well.”
My shoulders slumped. “You probably weren’t dodging blows and recuperating from broken bones, either.” I gave him a small smile and shrugged my shoulders. His eyes closed, and he dropped his head into his hands. “I’ve spent most of my life with some kind of injury or another. Kara has always poured her strength into healing me. I’ve never been physically strong enough to actually shift.”
