Mia A sudden noise rips me from my sleep. I don’t immediately understand what’s happening. The room is still shrouded in the dim light of dawn, long shadows stretching across the walls, and my brain struggles to catch up. Then I hear the voice again—sharp, commanding. “Get up.” My eyes snap open, and I find myself staring at Jaxon’s imposing figure standing beside the bed. He’s already dressed in a dark shirt and tailored pants, his hair just messy enough to make him look even more dangerous. A single curly lock falls onto his forehead, and the silver ring on his nose glints under the glow of the bedside lamp, which is still on. I rub my eyes, still half-asleep, but that doesn’t stop me from taking in, once again, just how ridiculously gorgeous he is. Couldn’t he just be an asshole? No
