A dull ache in Aihi’s ribs punctuated each step as she climbed the stairs, one of her many rewards for her fight with Lacotl. Now, stuck in Nagasou, she had no choice but to leave Meki Barame in charge, a man who was often as guilty of playing with his students as the kan’thir who stole them.
