Matteo sat in his office, buried under piles of work. Recently, the kingdom had been in chaos because of the new laws he introduced. He wanted to open the Lycan Kingdom’s borders to ordinary werewolves, but many Lycans strongly opposed it. They could tolerate powerful Alphas or Betas entering their land because they respected strength, but ordinary omegas? To them, it was insulting and beneath them. The protests had only gotten worse over the past few days. Riots broke out in some areas of the kingdom, and many nobles openly criticized him behind his back. Matteo rubbed his temples tiredly. His head ached badly.None of them understood his reasons.Their future queen was a werewolf. How was Myra supposed to feel comfortable living in a kingdom filled with people who looked down on her kind? The thought alone frustrated him. A sudden loud knock interrupted his thoughts. “Brother! Brother!” Before Matteo could respond, the office door burst open loudly. His brows immediately furrowed in annoyance at the noise. Melissa hurried into the office while Carl followed behind her looking helpless. “What is it now?” Matteo asked coldly. Melissa quickly walked toward his desk with her phone in her hand. “Sister-in-law is all over the internet,” she blurted out anxiously. “She’s trending everywhere.” Matteo’s expression darkened instantly. Melissa quickly played the video Lyka uploaded online. The moment Lyka’s crying face appeared on the screen, the atmosphere in the room became heavy. Matteo watched the entire video silently. Lyka cried beautifully on camera, talking about her missing sister, begging Myra to come home, acting like a worried and heartbroken sister. The comments below were even worse. “Murderer.” “Psychopath.” “Wicked woman.” “Monster.”Matteo’s face gradually turned terrifyingly cold. The temperature in the office seemed to drop. Melissa swallowed nervously seeing the look on his face, but she still forced herself to speak. “Brother…” she started hesitantly. “What if it’s true?” Matteo slowly raised his eyes toward her. Melissa immediately felt pressure from his gaze but continued carefully. “Maybe… maybe she really is dangerous. She already attacked me before. What if she actually killed someone?” She bit her lip nervously. “Brother, maybe you should reconsider this whole mate thing. I don’t think it’s worth it if she’s really a murderer. What if one day she—” “Enough.” Matteo’s voice boomed coldly across the office. Melissa instantly shut up. Fear flashed across her face as she shrank her neck slightly. Matteo stood up slowly from his chair, his eyes filled with anger. “That is not your decision to make,” he said coldly. Melissa lowered her head immediately, not daring to speak anymore. Only a few trusted people knew about Myra staying in the villa. Carl. William. Bria. Victoria. Matteo’s eyes suddenly darkened dangerously. “Shit.” He cursed Victoria. That woman will definitely opened her mouth. Without wasting another second, Matteo immediately mindlinked Dante, “Keep an eye on Victoria,” he ordered coldly. “Don’t let her leave the kingdom.” “Yes, My King.” He answered immediately, surprised though, Matteo hurried out of the office. Melissa watched him leave in shock. “Brother—” but he was already gone. Lyka leaned against the armrest of her sofa, scrolling through the comments under her post with satisfaction written all over her face. The insults directed at Myra made her feel strangely happy inside. It had been a long time since she felt this satisfied. People cursed Myra endlessly in the comments, calling her shameless, wicked, evil, a murderer. Seeing strangers drag Myra through the mud filled her heart with joy. Suddenly, the door burst open loudly. Aiden stormed into the room angrily, holding his phone tightly in his hand. It was obvious he had just seen the video Lyka uploaded. “What do you mean by this?” he growled fiercely. Lyka immediately changed her expression. Her smile disappeared and her eyes quickly became teary. “What do you mean, Aiden?” she asked softly. “I was only trying to help.” “Help?” Aiden laughed bitterly. “How exactly is publicly calling your sister a criminal supposed to help her? If you were Myra, would you come back after seeing this?” Lyka’s eyes instantly filled with tears. “I was only thinking about Kylie,” she whispered shakily. “She was my best friend, Aiden.” Her voice cracked into broken sobs. “Every time I think about her death, I feel guilty inside. I keep dreaming about her. It feels like her ghost keeps asking me for justice.” Tears rolled down her cheeks slowly. “How can I move on knowing my own sister caused her death?” Aiden’s expression stiffened. Kylie had always been the biggest problem between him and Myra. If Kylie had not died, maybe things would have been different. Maybe he and Myra would have gotten married peacefully. Maybe she would have been carrying his child by now. But there was no point thinking about impossible things anymore. The moment Kylie died, everything between him and Myra became strained. Still… somewhere deep inside him, he still hoped Myra was alive. He sighed tiredly and rubbed his forehead. “I’m sorry for shouting at you.” Lyka weakly leaned into his embrace like a fragile doll. Aiden stroked her hair gently, trying to comfort her. “I understand,” Lyka whispered softly. “Myra was once your mate after all. I know you probably still have lingering feelings for her.” She lowered her eyes sadly. “But please don’t forget what she did. If she truly cared, she would have turned herself in instead of running away.” “Enough.” Aiden sharply interrupted her. Lyka froze immediately. “Take down that video,” he said coldly. Her eyes widened in disbelief. “What?” “Kylie may have been your best friend,” Aiden continued sternly, “but Myra is still your sister. Have you ever thought that maybe the reason nobody has found her yet is because she’s dead?” Lyka’s lips parted slightly. “And if she’s really dead,” Aiden continued, “then what you’re doing now is disgusting. You’re destroying whatever memory people still had of her.” “But—” “But what, Lyka?” Aiden snapped impatiently. “You want the whole world to hate her forever?” Lyka stared at him blankly, struggling to process his words. “And don’t forget,” Aiden added darkly, “none of us are innocent either. So stop acting like some saint seeking justice. Maybe Myra made mistakes, but she still doesn’t deserve this.” He warned her sternly before turning around and leaving the room. Even Aiden himself looked slightly surprised by his own words. Why had he defended Myra so much? The moment the door closed, Lyka’s tears disappeared instantly. Her face twisted with anger. All this time she had worked hard to make Aiden forget Myra. She stayed beside him, comforted him, loved him, supported him, yet somehow Myra still remained in his heart. Why? Why couldn’t he just love her only? Why did everything always return back to Lyra? Her breathing became uneven from anger. Wanting to calm herself down, she quickly grabbed her phone again to continue reading the hateful comments under the post, but her expression froze. The post was gone. She refreshed again. Nothing. Again. Still nothing. The video had completely disappeared from the internet. Her eyes widened in shock before fury completely overtook her, she angrily threw the phone across the room.
