Drowning His Pain

1085 Words
‘’Pass me everything on you. Now!’’ He shouted, corking the gun in her direction. Ivy flinched, her hands shaky as she passed him her phone and her purse. She didn’t have a penny in her purse, only the money she had put in for the cab ride back home. Apart from that, she had nothing on her. ‘’Danmmit!’’ The cab driver cursed. ‘’Get the f**k out!’’ He shouted, still putting the gun in her face. Ivy nodded, her hands on the air as she reached to open the door. Without thinking, she jumped off, wincing in pain as she crashed to the muddy floor. Luckily, the rain was still falling so it washed away any sign of mud. Unluckily, she was still wearing the clothes she wore to please cole. So she was now shivering as the cold seeped in. With a wobbly leg, she walked forward, her eyes scanning the area as she did so. The night had already gone darker, the shops and stalls were closed. Ivy stumbled forward as she walked, her legs aching. She took off her heels angrily, throwing it across the road. The cold seeped into her feet as she walked forward, finally stumbling on a small pub by the side of the road. With a relieved sigh, she hurried towards the pub and sauntered in, her eyes taking in the emptiness. Apart from a few workers that roamed the place, there was no one else. She headed for a bar stool and sat down, grabbing the glassware she found by the corner. She placed it on the counter, dragging it in the bar tender’s direction. ‘’Pour me a drink.’’ The bar tender stared at her for a while, taking in her appearance. Her clothes was wet, clunging to her body. One of the straps on her dress was torn, hanging loosely on her shoulders. Wet mascara fell down her swollen cheeks and her red eyes bore into his. ‘’One coming up!’’ He answered, moving to the back of the pub to get one of the strongest alcoholic drinks. She looked like she needed it anyways.. He came back out and mixed the drinks before passing it in her direction. ‘’Thank you!’’ Ivy murmured, downing the drink in one go. The alcohol burned her insides, making her crave more. ‘’More!’’ She said again, tossing the glass in his direction. She had no idea how she was going to pay for the drinks but she was going to sort that out after drowning her pain. The bar tender obliged, pouring her more. Ivy kept downing more and more, requesting for more each time. Her head twirled, dizziness taking over. She supressed the urge to puke, her hand tightening around the glass. ‘’More..’’ She choked out, her head swaying from side to side as she tried to steady herself on the barstool. ‘’f**k!’’ The bartender cursed under his breath. ‘’I can’t. You’re so wasted.’’ He uttered, scratching the back of his head in frustration. He was starting to regret pouring her a drink in the first place. He had only agreed because he figured she had gone through a lot tonight. But it was past his closing time. ‘’You should go home now. You don’t have to pay.’’ He said, trying to pry the glass off her. Ivy gripped it tighter, her forehead knotting angrily while she stared at him with blurry eyes. ‘’I said more!’’ She snapped, her words slurring as she hit the glass on the table, demanding. The glass rolled off the shelf, barely falling before she gripped it again. ‘’I said more!!’’ The bartender reached to protest when a deep, commanding voice bloomed. ‘’More!’’ He said, propping on one of the stool. The bartender’s eyes flicked up, recognition in his gaze. He gave a small nod and pried the glass off Ivy’s loosened grip, pouring a drink into it. Once done, he placed the drink back on the counter. Smiling, Ivy reached for it, eager to take it when a hand caught her wrist mid-air, pulling the drink away. Ivy gasped, irritation swimming in her eyes. ‘’What the hell—‘’ Her breath caught in her throat the moment her gaze landed on him. Damon. Damon Perez… The man cole wouldn’t shut up about. Who’d been kicking him to the curb all the Danm time. His uncle! She blinked hard, trying to be sure it was actually him. She’d heard about him so many times, from cole. But she had never once seen him. Yet alone be this close to him. Cole never took her to any of his family gatherings. Any time his sister spoke about Damon, he would shut her up, his face showing visible anger. If Damon showed up on TV, he would turn it off like the sound of Damon’s voice hurt his ears. But here he was, in front of her. Sipping whiskey like he owned the place. She watched him quietly, her eyes tracing the sharp line of his jaws. She watched as a drop of whiskey slipped down his lips, to his jaws and down to his Adam’s apple. She gulped. ‘If only she could— She paused, something clicking in her head. She knew it was partly the alcohol that had let those thoughts in but somewhere in her mind, she knew it was all her. The alcohol wasn’t numbing anything. Ivy knew that more than anyone. The pain, the betrayal and the way cole and Sienna showed no sign of remorse as they reduced her to dust, made her clench her fist. Her nails dug into her palm, drawing blood. If she couldn’t numb the pain, she would pass it on.. On to the one that caused her those pain. And the only way to do that was to seduce his uncle. That would hurt him in ways that she couldn’t even spell. She watched Damon push the bar stool aside and get up, throwing a thick wad of cash in the bartender’s direction. He adjusted his coat and turned around, moving to exit the pub. Ivy quickly got up, staggering in the process. She rushed ahead of him and stumbled, pressing her body to his chest as though it was an accident. Her arms curled weakly against him, her eyes dripping with fake dizziness as she stared up at him. Then she whispered. ‘’Can I warm your bed tonight?’’
