Catherine had returned to her room later that evening, she had thanked the professor and had left him after saying a heartfelt goodnight, she hadn’t wanted to leave him, a part of her had wished he’d asked her to stay till he was ready to go so that they’d leave together, however, even she knew things wouldn’t work that way, should people see them leaving together at that hour, it would undoubtedly stir up suspicions.
