Susan listened from the sidelines, her heart tumultuous, yet her expression was one of concern. "Are you really going to get a divorce?"
Leo nodded. "Yes."
Susan bit her lip, her voice hoarse and pitiful. "Is it because of me? Leo, I didn't mean to. I don't want to disrupt your life. Actually, I came back this time to see if you're doing well. I know we're a thing of the past, I didn't mean to..." She clutched at Leo’s clothes, her words spilling out in a panic, her eyes wide with confusion.
Leo patted her hand in a gesture of reassurance, his voice soft. "It’s not your fault; it’s Claudia being childish and causing unnecessary drama. This is between her and me, it has nothing to do with you."
"That's a relief, otherwise I'd feel terribly guilty." Susan seemed comforted and calmed down. She instinctively lowered her head, resting it on Leo’s shoulder, a small, triumphant smile curling at the corners of her lips.
This was easier than she had anticipated.

Later, at two in the afternoon, Claudia took all her documents and headed straight to the clerk's office.
Once she arrived, she couldn't help but message Leo, asking where he was, what time he'd arrive, and not to be late. She was even more persistent than when they first registered their marriage.
Leo, receiving the text, furrowed his brow involuntarily before replying with a curt: Arrived.
Claudia turned to look, and there, by the roadside, two cars were parked. As the driver opened the door, Leo emerged, his tall, lean figure drawing admiring glances from the women around. Even with a stoic expression, his charisma was undeniable.
Leo’s allure was intrinsic, an undeniable part of him that she had once fallen deeply for.
From the car behind, four elite men in suits got out in unison, each carrying a briefcase. They all looked quite formidable.
Claudia was a bit bewildered. "What does this mean?"
"Since we're getting a divorce, we should have a proper discussion." Leo's entourage was too conspicuous, so they all went into a nearby café together.
Once seated, the four introduced themselves one by one. Different names, same profession, all specializing in divorce litigation.
Claudia, prepared to get the divorce certificate today, didn't bother to think much and got straight to the point, "What changes do you want to make to the previous divorce agreement? Let me hear it."
Back then, the two families allied, binding their interests. In just three years, there were countless projects they had collaborated on, were collaborating on, or were about to collaborate on.
Claudia, not directly involved in these matters, was aware from her father that the figures were substantial, perhaps in the billions. But that was between the companies, not her concern. And likely, even post-divorce, the cooperation would continue.
As for her and Leo, they had a prenuptial agreement, so some fixed premarital assets were not affected by the divorce. Therefore, the only things that needed to be divided and discussed were their post-marital assets.
Leo felt a surge of irritation seeing Claudia look as if she couldn't wait to get rid of him. He raised his eyebrows, signaling the lawyer to speak.
"Miss Thornhill, although you signed a prenuptial agreement with Mr. Wilson, it was regarding your personal assets with Mr. Wilson. After you got married, you both received substantial assets from your families. These assets have become entangled due to multiple collaborations between the Wilson and Thornhill families, making it unclear at the moment." The lawyer handed a stack of documents to Claudia. "However, knowing your intention to divorce, we've made a distribution based on the current assets. Please take a look."
The stack was thick, resembling a small mountain. Claudia took it with a look of astonishment, flipped through a few pages, and felt a bit overwhelmed.
In one project, there was an initial capital allocation, followed by profit distribution, and reinvestment would cause further entanglement. Moreover, over these three years, assets amounting to over a hundred billion have become too numerous and chaotic.
Leo’s side presented a solution—thirty percent of the initial distribution to Claudia.
But this thirty percent figure is very vague, and it doesn't include the appreciation of Leo's portion of the assets acquired after their marriage. How is this different from making Claudia get out of the house with nothing?
'What a joke. Having given her body and heart, do they also want me to lose my money?' Claudia picked up that pile of documents and, not backing down, said, "This distribution is unreasonable. I disagree and will also hire a lawyer."
She initially wanted to end things amicably, but didn't expect Leo to show no mercy.
So what else does she have to worry about? Even if she had to fight tooth and nail, she would ensure this man paid his due.
It seems that the divorce certificate won't be obtained today, but Claudia really can't swallow this anger. She stood up, towering over Leo, and sneered, "Leo, don’t forget, without that divorce certificate, you’re still a married man. I’d advise against causing any scandals that will embarrass the Wilson family."
"Of course," Leo replied calmly, "I also hope you don't forget your status as a married woman."
Claudia kept a straight face and said nothing. They stared at each other, waiting to find a weakness to strike a fatal blow.
She wouldn't give this despicable man the chance. Giving a cold glare at Leo, Claudia turned and walked away.
Leo watched her go, unfazed. He took a sip of his coffee, finding the taste quite good.
The lawyer beside him remarked, "Mr. Wilson, we'll also go prepare." In a top-tier wealthy divorce, even a trivial point involves unimaginable amounts for others. To justify their legal fees, they need to prepare well.
"Alright." Leo agreed.

When Leo arrived at the private party room, everyone was having the time of their lives—singing, dancing, kissing. But the moment he arrived, the room buzzed with a new kind of excitement.
A group of rich young men, disregarding the beauties in their arms, fixed their eager gazes on Leo.
Once Leo sat down, David came over; he was the closest to Leo among the group. So, he was the most suitable person to ask something. He adjusted his emotions and cautiously asked, "Leo, is Claudia really going to divorce you?"
Leo looked at David, clearly not expecting them to know. Seeing this, everyone explained.
"Claudia has been running around to several law firms today, hiring some big-shot divorce lawyers. Says she’s planning to divorce you. We’re all in shock."
"Leo, you didn't cause some illegitimate child scandal and break our dear Miss Thornhill's heart, did you?"
After speaking, they all looked at Leo with a few hints of reproach in their eyes.
Compared to Leo, who spent years abroad and only returned during college, they were more familiar with Claudia. After all, in the same circle, they've seen and heard quite a bit.
Claudia's beauty was unmatched, considered among the finest in the nation. Her noble heritage and refined demeanor lacked the spoiled brattiness often found in daughters of wealthy families. Once, with her nimble hands, she had created a masterpiece worth millions. Later, a tragic car accident left her hands injured, unable to hold a paintbrush, and she disappeared from the public eye for a time.
After that, she married Leo. On the wedding day, she wore a white wedding dress, her hands clutching a bouquet of flowers, her smile radiant and captivating, leaving many awe-struck by her beauty. They were envious of Leo for marrying such a beautiful woman.
Gradually, with Leo's indifference, frequent nights out and tabloid news, Claudia's smile faded.
In private, they even blamed Leo. If they had known, they would have rather had Claudia marry one of them; at least she wouldn't be so heartbroken.
"You're overthinking it," Leo retorted calmly. He didn't like kids, and with those women, it was mostly just for show; having an illegitimate child was out of the question.
"But why now? You used to kiss other women right in front of Claudia, and she never asked for a divorce. What’s different?" Someone was confused.
"Susan?" One speculated.
There had been many women in Leo’s life, but Susan was the only one who seemed to matter, although they weren't familiar with each other back then. The only thing that could make Claudia give up must be related to Susan.
Sure enough, just as Susan returned, Claudia started demanding a divorce. With this coincidental timing, no one would believe there's no connection. Moreover, didn't Leo agree to the divorce and even start a lawsuit over the division of assets?
They had seen Susan before; she was attractive, but she didn’t hold a candle to Claudia in terms of looks, talent, or family background.
Sometimes, they just couldn't understand Leo. How could he not love a stunner like Claudia and how could he treat her so callously?
Perhaps some men held a first love in their hearts, a place that no one else could fill.
