Lyx
"No, it is okay you can go. I was just... scared." She practically has tears in her eyes. I gently rub her back.
"I know a kitten it's okay. I've got you." I just want to scoop her up and take her away from here so I don't have to leave her alone every time that I have to go to bed. Honestly, I should just take her home. Mother wants her to come visit anyways, and she can always stay with me until she is comfortable.
"Hey kitten…?" She looks up at me sleepily.
"Hmmmm?"
"Do you want to come home with me? Instead of me leaving you every night and coming back the next night? You don't have to but I don't like seeing you so scared of me leaving." I put it out there, but she doesn't have to say yes. I would love nothing more than to scoop her up and whisk her away to my home. I suppose taking her to the home estate would atleast be better than leaving her all the time. Plus mother would stop bugging me about bringing her home to her. I am sure her sleeping in my bed would raise some questions. I guess I didn't fully think this through, but whatever I just hate leaving her. I have had to watch her and keep her safe from a distance for a long time. I just want to protect her from everything now.
"Mhm, that sounds nice." She mumbles against me.
"Baby, you are going to have to be more awake to say yes. If I take you home right now you aren't going to realize where you are anymore." I chuckle. She is so tired she would probably just mumble a response to anything I say right now.
"Lyx, please take me home with you. I just want to go to sleep." She struggles to force her eyes open, showing me she does understand what I am saying to her. I pick her up and grab her blanket off the bed. I know she will sleep in the car on the way and if I want to beat the sun I need to head out now. It is only a two hour drive to our parents' estate and I have protective films on my car. However, when your life depends on it you can never be too careful. I buckle her into the care after getting her down stairs and out the door. I wrap the blanket around her so she is nice and cozy. I go back into the house real quick to grab her shoes and a few spare clothes. If she needs anything else I will get it for her later.
During the car ride, I called mother and so I could tell her I am on my way back to the estate.
"Hello dear. How is your night?" She answers on the second ring.
"Hi mother. Its good, I am driving right now."
"You are driving? Where? I thought you said you don't usually leave Valerie until you have to get to your home." She sounded worried and concerned instantly.
"Everything is okay mother. Valerie is with me..."
"Wait are you saying....?" Her voice immediately changed when she realized what I was implying. I could practically feel her excitement through the phone.
"We will be going in through the garage, she is already asleep so I will carry her in..."
"I haven't even prepared her a room yet though... oh my god what am I going to do? That is so rude of me to not even have a room prepared for my daughter! Oh my god what is she going to think of me!" She cut me off and started ranting. She was getting herself all worked up and worried.
"Mother, calm down. She will be staying in my room because she knows me and trusts me. Not to mention that it was decided at the last minute that we would be coming so nothing is expected. Please try to calm down she will probably sleep for awhile. She was up late with me." I try to calm her down and explain things without implying anything but of course that isn't how it comes out.
"Wait... Lysander are you saying that there is something between you two?" She gasps and I can hear her clapping on the other end of the phone.
"Its not like that. We have just gotten really close with how things have been. Anyways, I will be there soon, so I am going to hang up now." I know that I am going to have to answer a lot of questions later, but luckily I can go to sleep when I get there because it will be after dawn. Atleast being at the estate all the windows are properly tinted and treated so even after dawn we can roam freely. The garage is fully treated as well so that in situations like this we can just use the garage passage to get inside the house.
I pull up to the gate and hit the button. The iron gates creak open for me and I pull up the winding road. Once I get to the garage door I press the fob in my car that opens it and pull in, letting it close behind me. Of course mother is standing in the doorway waiting for us. Let's be honest, she is waiting for Valerie, but my little kitten has been sleeping the whole time. I get out and roll my eyes. She is practically jumping up and down with excitement. I go around the car and gently get Valerie out still wrapped in her blanket. She readjusts so that when I pick her up she is perfectly cradled to my chest. I gently push the door closed behind me, trying not to wake her up. She tossed a little on the drive, but I tried to keep my hand on her at all times so she would relax.
