"Still can't believe you're leaving so abruptly and so soon," Ethan said before Joseph could pull over at his house. "I know, we didn't expect it either, but it is what it is. I'm sure gonna miss you,"I said hugging my best friend for which possibly was the last time. "I'll miss you too bro. Take care of yourself," he said before hugging me After we pulled out of Ethan's street and joined the main road that led into the route to my house Joseph got a little nervous about ten minutes into the drive. "Suspicious activity noted. I think we're being followed," he said to someone on the phone stepping on the gas. Joseph began speeding, taking several sharp turns making me feel like throwing up until eventually he managed to lose the other vehicle.
"Your highness, are you okay?" Joseph asked as we finally drove to my house. "I'm fine Uncle Joseph, but could you please just call me Alex," I said relieved to have made it home in one piece. "I can't do that, it's against protocol your highness," Joseph said. "Please I'm just Alex," I pleaded. Joseph's eyes softened," okay until the coronation, afterwards you're officially a Prince and then you have no say on the matter,"he said. "Deal, I said. As soon as we got home, I noticed our luggage was ready to go. Joseph quickly helped us load everything in the car. "We have to leave now, I know we promised to explain everything to you as soon as you got home, but you have been discovered. Those people who were following you were rogues," my father said while he handed Joseph a gun from a bag my mother was carrying which contained several guns and what looked like rounds of ammunition. "You have guns?" I asked stunned.
Just as we were ready to leave this place for good, suddenly, there was the sound of glass shattering. I looked up to see our windows had been broken. "We're under attack, we have to go now. Joseph grabbed me, while my parents got in front of him shadowing us shooting at the men that were trying to attack us. Once we got into the car, they continued shooting at them through the window. They were following us in the same vehicle we had seen earlier. I contacted the pack, reinforcements are on the way. Don't worry Alex, you're going to be safe, we just need to get you out of here,"Joseph said as he took us through a route, I had never been through before. It went through a forest and a mountainous region. My heart pounded in my chest. The speed coupled with the gun fire. Who knew that my life would all of a sudden become an action movie.
Another vehicle joined in. Oh crap I thought. "Don't worry, that's our guys. They will deal with the attackers so we can be able to get out of here to safety," my father Michael explained. The vehicle swerved in between ours and the vehicle that was chasing us. That gave Joseph the chance to build up speed and get out of there. "It will take us several hours to get to the palace, so instead we are going to stay at a safe house where the kingdom's best warriors will be there to protect you and to ensure that we make it safely to the palace," my mother Sarah explained. We drove for what must have been about an hour or so, when we reached what looked like a little town. Joseph drove us o where the houses were and stopped. It looked like a huge resort, with houses everywhere and a beautiful yard with gorgeous greenery and plants. There was a white fountain with blue water. Very beautiful. "Welcome to the red pack your highness, Susan will take you all to where you will be staying," an unfamiliar voice said. The set up of the place was unlike anything he had ever seen before. Susan had given them a quick tour before taking them to rest. It had everything from a school to a hospital. I don't know why they kept referring to the place as the pack.
"Alex, I'm sure you must've been so scared with everything that just happened. Please rest a little, after we get something to eat, we will talk about everything and you can ask me," my mother Sarah said. Indeed, I was still very shaken by how drastically different my life has become. From being the invisible boy, to now being a prince to almost getting killed. Yes, he needed a little time to make sense of it all. He wanted to know everything and he had loads of questions but right now he needed to calm the hell down. He was still shaking. He felt like he was a character on a Truman like reality show, where everyone knew what was happening apart from him.
Belle sighed. She hadn't gotten a glimpse of the Prince as yet. She was sure that she would be disappointed anyway. Almost immediately after the King had appointed her as protector, they were informed that he was under attack by rogues. These rogues were ruthless. They weren't very highly skilled, they were however relentless and what was very alarming was that they also had reinforcements. It seemed almost like they had an army of their own. Her thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of Marcus. "Great job back there, you showed those filthy rogues whose boss, " he said grinning. "Have you gotten a glimpse of him yet? Is he as weak as they say he is?" she asked curiously. "No I haven't as yet, but I don't think you should jump to conclusions. He may have been raised human but he has powerful Alpha blood running through his veins. Maybe you need to give him the benefit of the doubt," Marcus said raising his eyebrow. "Not you as well, Helena has already been on my case about that exact same thing. Fine I will decide after we go head to head on the training grounds," she said rolling her eyes. "That's my girl," he said. Marcus was very fond of Belle, the minute Jake had brought her to the pack, he developed a soft spot for her, especially after she began training with the Alpha, Beta and himself.
Alex had fallen asleep. When he awoke it was already nightfall. He had that dream again, but this time, the wolf urged Alex to return home as soon as possible. As he got downstairs, he saw his parents seated there with Joseph. They looked tired and worn out. "Hey! You're awake," my mother Sarah said. "The pack house kitchen sent us something to eat a few minutes ago. It's a good thing you're awake. Let's have dinner and then we can talk. I know you probably have loads of questions and we have alot of explaining to do as well," Michael said smiling while his eyes said something else. I suddenly realized why mom and dad looked the way they did, they were returning me back to my family. They were no longer going to be my parents. I have real parents. My heart sank.
