Slowly blinking her eyes open, Elena tried to steady her hazy vision, fluttering her lashes repeatedly in an attempt to clear the blur. After a few long moments, when her sight finally adjusted, she realized she was lying in a dark room. Only a faint, dim light flickered in the space, barely helping her make out anything around her.
“So, you’re finally awake.”
A sudden voice echoed from nearby, making her jolt in fear. She quickly turned toward the direction of the sound and noticed a shadowy figure seated on the cold floor not too far from her. Panic rushed through her veins as she instinctively tried to move away, but she couldn’t go anywhere her back was already pressed firmly against the wall behind her.
“Hey… relax. I’m not going to hurt you,” the feminine voice spoke again, causing Elena to freeze in place.
She narrowed her eyes, trying to make out the girl’s face, but the darkness and weak lighting made it nearly impossible to see clearly.
“W-who are you?” Elena asked, her voice trembling.
“I’m Scarlett. And you?” the girl replied calmly.
“I’m Elena Hayes. W-why am I here? And what are you doing here?” Elena questioned, still tense, careful not to provoke the stranger.
“I was taken too just like you. They’ve kept me in this room for two days now,” Scarlett explained.
“T-two days?” Elena repeated in disbelief.
“Yeah. You’ve been unconscious the whole time because of whatever they injected into you,” Scarlett said.
“B-but why would they bring us here?” Elena asked, fear slowly creeping into her tone.
“I don’t know… but we’re not alone. There are many girls locked in here,” Scarlett revealed, shocking her.
Elena slowly scanned the room, her eyes adjusting further, and she began to notice several faint silhouettes scattered around. Some were sitting, others lying still.
Her body stiffened instantly.
Questions flooded her mind.
Why were they here?
Who brought them?
What were they planning to do?
Regret hit her hard.
She should have gone back home.
That apartment belonged to her she could have thrown Adrian out. Why hadn’t she thought about that earlier?
Now it was too late.
She was trapped.
Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted when the door slammed open loudly.
A huge figure stood at the entrance.
A tall, bald man stepped inside easily over six feet, his body heavily built with thick muscles.
He walked across the room and flipped a switch on the wall.
A dull yellow bulb flickered to life, lighting up the entire space.
Now Elena could see him clearly broad shoulders, intimidating posture, and a presence that felt overwhelming.
‘What is he… some kind of giant?’ she thought nervously.
As the room brightened, she noticed many girls around her some conscious, others still passed out.
Soon, more men entered the room and began roughly grabbing the girls, securing metal cuffs around their wrists and linking them together with a long, heavy chain.
The bald man approached Elena.
She instinctively tried to pull back, but the wall behind her left her with no space to move.
He grabbed her wrists harshly and locked them into the chain along with the others.
Cold metal tightened around her skin.
Elena struggled immediately, trying to free herself, but it was useless. The chains were thick and unbreakable.
Fear tightened around her chest.
She looked toward Scarlett and saw that she was chained as well.
Their eyes met briefly.
Elena gave her a worried glance, and Scarlett responded with a small, reassuring nod silently telling her she wasn’t alone.
The men began counting the girls.
Once they were done, they started dragging them out of the room.
As Elena was pulled outside, the bright daylight hit her face harshly, forcing her to squint.
After a few seconds, her eyes adjusted.
They were inside a warehouse surrounded by dark walls and stacks of large boxes piled high.
Before she could take it in properly, a cloth was tightly tied over her eyes.
Darkness covered her vision again.
She was dragged forward along with the others.
Outside, multiple vans were lined up.
The men pushed the girls inside one by one.
Once everyone was forced in, the doors slammed shut and the vehicle started moving.
Two men sat in the front the driver and another beside him.
Elena sat silently, unable to see anything.
But she could hear everything.
“Li hai informati che stiamo portando loro le ragazze?” one of the men asked.
(Did you inform them that we are bringing the girls?)
“Ovviamente. Cosa pensi, che farei un errore trattando con lui?” the other replied.
(Of course. Do you think I would make a mistake dealing with him?)
They were speaking Italian something Elena didn’t understand at all.
She tried to make sense of it, but the words meant nothing to her.
After what felt like hours, the van finally came to a stop.
The doors opened.
They were dragged out again.
The blindfold was removed.
Elena blinked repeatedly until her vision cleared.
They were in another warehouse.
But this one was different.
Heavily guarded.
Men stood everywhere, guns in their hands.
A chill ran down her spine.
The girls were lined up in front of a man.
The men who had brought them lowered their heads respectfully.
The man stood tall, his sharp gaze scanning both the girls and the men.
His presence alone commanded authority.
“Abbiamo portato le ragazze come richiesto dal nostro accordo,” one of the men said nervously.
(We brought the girls as agreed.)
The man gestured slightly to one of his subordinates.
The man stepped forward and began counting the girls.
After finishing, he nodded.
“Il numero è corretto.”
(The number is correct.)
The man’s expression turned cold.
“Non provate a giocare con me.”
(Do not try to cross me.)
His voice was low but threatening, sending fear through the men.
They nodded quickly.
Another man stepped forward, holding a bag filled with money, and handed it over.
The men took it and quickly left without looking back.
They moved like prey escaping danger.
The man then shifted his attention toward the girls.
They stood trembling, fear clearly visible on their faces.
A faint smirk appeared on his lips.
He was enjoying it.
“Togliete le bende,” he ordered.
(Remove the blindfolds.)
A guard stepped forward and removed the blindfolds from the girls.
Elena blinked as her sight adjusted again.
Guards stood everywhere.
Weapons in their hands.
Her heart pounded harder.
Then she lifted her gaze
And froze.
Standing there…
Was the same man from the club.
Alessandro DeLuca.
And behind him stood the other two men
Marco Vieri.
Luca Moretti.
