“When was your last period due?” Doctor Samantha Fraser asked Amanda.
“Three weeks ago,” Amanda answered bluntly, as Samantha pushed her hand on different areas of her stomach, pursing her lips together while placing some gel on the end of a device.
“This might be a bit cold. I want to listen to the baby’s heartbeat”, she continued; placing the wand onto Amanda’s stomach. She moved it around until a fast little beat came through the device. “Hmm.”
“Hmm, good or hmm bad” Toby asked, holding Amanda’s hand.
“It’s one strong heartbeat” Samantha said, moving the wand over slightly and the heartbeat stopped. Moving it further to the left, it sounded out again. “Hmm.”
“Can you stop saying hmm please?” Toby asked as Samantha smiled.
