THE BROODER 33. ***ASHLEY*** The maid gave me a dish for lunch and I eat the delicious food... I feel very dizzy so I struggle to the bed and I fell into a deep sleep. ##### I woke up in a strange room. The food? The b^stards drugged the damn food. I still feel weak, maybe from sleeping for a long time. I don't know how long I slept but I feel like someone up from coma. The room has the boyish touch, I have been sold off I guess. I don't know what fate holds out for me but I'm going to live. I got up from the bed but still sits back. I feel lightheaded and I have a rumbling tummy. I am very famish. The door opens and a white guy comes in... Man: Salut madamselle (Hi miss) He's got a french accent like my highschool french teacher and I believe he just spoke French. I don't know what he expects as a reply cause my skin color was suppose to tell him off. I'm a black African woman and I don't speak French. Maybe some African countries speak French but that's not me. I never concentrated in french lessons. I only used to do french over Spanish in school. Man:" My name is Matt fofana and I'm a french person." Of course I know! His french accent is a strong sellout. We both heard my tummy sounds and he laughs. I don't know what is funny but he's got a good laugh. The kind of laugh that reassures you that he's a good person. Matt:" I can hear that you're hungry. What will you like to eat?" That's a first! Nobody has ever asked me that. And I am speechless on that topic. I don't even know what I like anymore. I used to like my mother's scones and fries. I wonder if she still makes them. The rumbling comes again.. Matt:" I will have the chef decide what to serve you but for the meantime, let's get you out of this room. You'll need fresh air." That's a first too. I have always been locked up in rooms for years now. I have never had the privilege to explore fresh air like he said. I don't remember what it's like anymore. He helped me up and we leave the room. We pass a hallway and a few rooms and the kitchen. He instructed the chef to serve my food immediately. I follow him slowly to an open roof lounge. It is very beautiful. There's all kinds of beautiful flowers decorating the lounge. The sun is a bit out but no so harsh. I could feel free. I walk around touching the flowers and sniffing them. He left me out there to make a call. The lounge is very elegant with a nice smell too. I didn't want to ruin the sofas. They're white in color and I don't want to stain them so I sat on the clean rug. It's a stuffy rug, smooth like a dog's hair. I sit down quietly and I look around. There's a door leading outside but I resist the urge to explore the outdoors... ***RICHARD*** "99% compatibility" I got the DNA results this morning. For the children. I did it for some clarification. It was my father's idea. He said that the issue of DNA is on trend on all social media. I know that they're mine but I needed to prove a point to my Dad. "Sawubona Dad" King Banzi:"How are my grandbabies Mcebo?" It's official the twins has stolen my spot in my father's life. They are all he asks for. He flew to Jo'burg two days ago to see them and since them he keeps on fussing over them. He calls the nanny thrice everyday to hear from weeks old children...I am betrayed. "I am very fine Dad. How's your treatments going?" I had a doctor sent to live in the palace. He was diagnosed of high cholesterol. I can't believe my father thought he'll die over something as mild as cholesterol. Jordans laughed at it. He's a drama king, my pa. King Banzi:" I know you are. I am just asking about the Stars" "They're all food, cries and sleep." King Banzi:" The nanny said something about the princess high fever this morning " yeah, the nanny tells him things first before me. That's how much of importance I am in my father's eye. "The doctor has it checked out. He has prescribed syrups for her. It is nothing big " King Banzi:" Tell her to watch her all the time. I told you to let me send the palace nannies but you don't listen. If you weren't taken from me, you'd have enjoyed their company and it won't be so difficult to trust them" Not the nanny topic again! I saw them nannies and they're a lot. Old grannies and weary hands. I know am African but those ladies will be extra. "Wenamanzi, I got the DNA test results right now and I called to let you know. They're mine.". And I also want to tell you that 'i told you so!" but I can't voice it out. King Banzi:" I know. But it's good you had that cleared out" you know? You know? What's the essence of the test then? "I did another tests Dad " I had to do it. I can see the fear in his eyes when he talked about it. He doesn't want to do it but I needed to do it, for us to clear that out too. King Banzi:" How dare you! You had no permission! I didn't consent" "Relax old man, it's great news! We're 99% compatible " King Banzi:" Did you perhaps doubt that we're? Was there something I did that made you think of doing that?" "I did it to have that cleared out too. I know that the other test results freaked you out. You had that fear in your eyes" King Banzi:" Still that doesn't give you the right to do that at my absence. I know you are my son, come DNA or not. " "Fine Dad, my bad!" I can't keep going on and on about that with the old man. "Apologies pa" He ends the call after talking about the preparations for the rituals coming up in two days time. My phone rings, it's Matt. Matt: Boss, when are you fetching the parcel?" I don't want that parcel anymore. Maybe he should sell her off. Everytime I see that scar at my children's ear, my hatred for her increases.
