THE BROODER

19.

**ASHLEY**

Thintiwe explained all what led to what happened to her. She went on to get her portion and there's no food for her. She woke up late.

As pissed as she is, she walked up to the guards and angrily cursed them for taking the portion of a pregnant woman. They all insulted her with saga saying she should take her smelling armpits out of his presence. She wanted to return the favour and so, she called him an impotent fool who couldn't bring his game on with Ashley the other night. His fellow guards all laughed at him as one even promise to give him herbs. He was so pissed that he forcefully took her to his room and rvped her brutally.

For once I thought he has changed but they say, 'the leopard never changes it's spot'. Saga is no leopard but a monster. For one who's a father, he shouldn't have done that. I don't know how God made me share a child with that monster.

I know Thintiwe is wrong for using what I told her in secret to insult him publicly but he deserves that. He deserves more for saying I'll rot and die here. Once an evil man, always an evil man. I should have known better. It's a good thing he got a weak erection that night cause I don't need that evilness close to my babies. I will never forgive him for these.

And this thing of guards eating our food when they can easily assess the outside world is very bad. It is not fair at all. There are no cooks anymore. They just bring in three packed dishes every morning. The same thing in the noon and evening.

When they bring it, they keep it with the guards and you have to go early at 7:am, 12:pm on the dot and 6:pm to get it. You can't even take for your fellow brooders. The guards are just so vile to allow that.

They forget we are pregnant women and we eat for two.

" Hi"

Thintiwe: " Hi"

" I came to check up on you. You haven't been outside all morning."

Thintiwe:" I can't stand on my feet for long. It hurts a lot.,"

I was about to ask how she's been going to the restroom cause I know how long the journey is till, I saw the little Tin container she's using to ease herself.

"I am so sorry Thintiwe. I really am. I wish there's something I can do to help."

Thintiwe:" I haven't eaten. Since last night. I couldn't go." Oh that's another big issue but I do have some chips she can munch on.

" Let me get you some chips I have in my room"

I come back to her urinating in her new personal toilet.

" This is not much Thintiwe so you have to prepare to go get lunch. But first, I will help you to the washroom and you will take a nice shower and change your clothes. Once it is 11:50am, I will help you to go get lunch. I need you to put up a brave face in the presence of the guards. Don't let them see you weak. Do not let them take pleasure in seeing how they affect you. Okay?" She nods in affirmation as she munch on her chips.

I should have slept here with her last night but Ruthie and Ashati were here and I didn't want to crowd her. I, myself also needed some me-time to collect myself after what that bvstard did. He opened an old wound and he shattered my heart into tiny pieces.

**RICHARD**

I just arrive to the palace. Today is the 30th and I don't even know what I am doing here. I should be in the office checking out some stocks and expenditures not gallivanting in the palace but yet, here I am.

" My name is Richard carfer and I have an appointment with the king."

Guard:" Greetings Mr Richard, please drive straight. Makosa said you should meet him in the cave. It is just down this route "

"Hmm" I drove myself here, alone without the bodyguards and convoy but with my little friend in my pocket.

The palace has changed over the years. There used to be an artificial spring water here. Now, it has been converted to a wildlife park, a zoo.

I stood at the entrance of the cave and pushed and loo! The door opened again. I feel some kind of shivers as I walk into the cave.

The inside of the cave has changed too. The whirlpool was still here but the interior has some kind of red lights. The cave has been turned into an artifact museum. All kinds of African paintings, designs and craft are placed all over in a decorative manner. They are pictures around too. Old pictures, some are in white and black while others are like drawings. The people in the pictures and drawings are all kings.

And I know these because they're all wearing the same crown and an emerald necklace. I see a particular king, his picture is clear like recent but he seems familiar...

King Banzi:" That is my father. He passed away few years ago."

I didn't even see him come in. This man made me come into the cave when he's not here.

" Wena wamanzi Makosa, I..."

King Banzi:" I told you to call me Richard. I heard you are quite rude but I don't see it."

"Alright Richard, so why am I here?"

He's pulling his clothes in my presence. So kingly of him. He's left with his briefs as he enters the hot spring.

King Banzi:" come here junior. I'll let you join me today. Forgive my twenty-seven years past self and join me. This water has healing abilities. They take away all negative energies and lighten your burdens. Come in here."

I tried to refuse but I see the water calling me in. I pull my clothes except my briefs and enters the spring.

Something inside the water pulls me inside the deepest part of the water, I was drowning and fighting to come up but it is so strong...

King Banzi's horrible laughter filled the cave.
