Sophie was driven to the mansion, she tightened her hand around her phone as she could not get her mind off him. He was everything she desired in a man, he had a perfect physique... Though she had seen men like him, he was just different, she was obsessed with him. She could not get her mind off his broad shoulders, jet black hair and a handsome face. He looked too good for a human, and he was the epitome of great knowledge. He was very smart and had an aura around him which attracted him to her. She sighed as she remembered the number of times he had rejected her. She knew she was very beautiful and attractive, yet she could not arrest his heart. She was the envy of many women who thought they had the most adorable relationship in the world. They both agreed that they would be for the public and all that, but she had the intention of making him hers. They had been friends for a long time and his parents were good friends with hers, and they had dinner together sometimes and since then she has been in love with him. She knew his mother was aware of her feelings and she was helping her get her. She had helped her get closer with Richard, but he still didn't love her as she wanted. " I am going to have you no matter what it takes. I always get what I want, and you would not be exceptional. Richard left his office in a hurry and earlier than usual, and it made his personal assistant wonder why, since he always stayed late in the office and overworked himself. He picked up his phone and made a secret call. Before leaving the office in a hurry because he was late. He had to pick up his sister from the airport as she returned to the country. He had promised to come and pick her personally. He urged his driver to drive faster when he saw a message from her. He knew the kind of comments he would receive from her if her flight landed before he got to the airport. His younger sister, Bethany, was a cheerful but spoiled and pampered daughter, and she was a person not to be messed with as she had a bad temper. She was very difficult to reason with when angry or upset. Richard came down from his car. All eyes fell on him and women gathered and watched him murmuring to themselves. Richard had left the office in a hurry because he was late. He had to pick up his sister at the airport as she was just returning from her long trip. He already knew his sister would be angry that he hadn't come to pick on time. Which he didn't, by the way. His younger sister Bethany was a cheerful, lovable, caring person, but she had a very fiery temper, and she wasn't to be messed with. She was very hard to control or reason with if angry and upset. She's very difficult to reason with and can't be easily influenced. The gazes and comments that were passed to him to show admiration didn't get to him. He really despised some women. He walked further and saw Bethany sitting on one of the benches. He exhaled hard as he moved towards her, preparing for her combat of words and anger. She did as he expected, but he didn't react. She gave him a look and walked ahead with her handbag, leaving while the security helped her carry her luggage. Richard follows her and shakes his head because he nearly expected the reaction. In the car, he sat next to her and placed his hand on her hair, but she swatted his hand off. "Don't touch me!" She said with a stern look on her face. She sat facing the other side of the window. After a while of sitting quietly, she turned in an annoyance. "I had waited for more than thirty minutes. I clearly told you not to be late, but it seemed like you couldn't even follow such a little request of mine," she said again, looking away. "I am really sorry, I had some work to finish. I wanted to be here on time, believe me." Bethany smiled as her annoyance calmed, and she stretched her hands for an embrace. He hugged her in return. "I was actually teasing, I only just returned," she said in his arm and he shook his head at her behavior and they separated. Bethany began to talk about her trip and how much stress she went through at work. They both talked and laughed. Bethany had really missed her brother, who spoiled her with everything and even his attention. They got to their family's mansion on the Downs estate, they met their mother outside, waiting to welcome them. The mansion was painted with white and gold and was very beautiful and large. The mansion had a garden with a pool and fountain shaped with a beautiful carving. The front door was made of the best furniture. The inside of the house was breathtaking with its magnificent and expensive interior. The huge chandelier provided light in the room as the family walked inside chatting happily. Mr Downs stood in the middle of the living room and Bethany hurried to hug her father, who hugged her in return with a pleasant smile. He looked so proud of her. "My little princess is now a grown woman," he said, smiling brightly, then he turned to look at his son, Richard, who was also getting pampered by his mother. "Do you even get enough sleep at all? You are always overworking, and I told you to come home to dinner sometimes," Mrs Downs said in a scolding tone. Richard rolled his eyes and walked up to the dining room when the butler told them dinner was served. The family sat down to have dinner, they ate while conversing for a while. "How was your latest business trip?" Mr Downs asked Richard after dinner. "It was profitable as expected," Richard replied, and Mr Downs nodded in approval. "We have an invitation to a dinner party, most of the business partners will be there, and I would love it for you to attend," Mr Downs said, and Richard gave it a brief thought. "Your mother would like the whole family to be present on that day," Mr Downs said to his son, who agreed. " I will clear up my schedule then, Dad," he said. "That's good. How is Sophie?" His father asked a surprising question and Richard blinked. "She is fine,"Richard replied, straight-faced. Mr Downs nodded. "We hope you engage her soon and you both get married." Richard scoffed uneasily. "I would like to be in my room now," Richard said, standing up to his feet. He did not like where the conversation could lead to. "Good night son," " Good night to you too, Dad. " Back in her apartment, Claire took off her coat and shoes, she undressed and indulged herself in a warm bath to ease the stress of the day a bit. Somehow her mind trailed to someone she was trying hard to forget. Why could she not forget him after all these years? Every moment they spent together came replaying in her mind and tears fell off her eyes. She remembered the promises they made and how she broke them for fled for her life. She had a reason, and she always wished that she could explain, but she could not. She moved out of the country and started to work, but here she is three years later, working with the press as a journalist. She enjoyed working and she worked really hard. She had stayed with her grandmother when she first left the country but returned after her death. Her mother is dead and now the only family which was her grandmother is gone too.
