Edmund’s POV
My plan worked , I knew Ella would come barging in when she’d be left with no choice. I’m not so cold-hearted, I really do feel bad for putting her through all this, but then again I have to get my company back and I’m willing to do anything to get what I want. Even if it means I have to marry someone I don’t even know.
I took her to my penthouse to negotiate the terms of our contract, I can already tell that this women hates me to her core.
Inside my fancy penthouse, as the sun was setting, I watched her pacing around, a heavy feeling in the air. Some might think that what we were doing was pure madness, but I was going to play this game till the end.
I waited for Ella to speak but she didn’t, I sighed, my patience wearing thin.
“Ella,” I said, trying to sound confident, “You probably hate me by now, I know you can’t even stand my presence and it was clear to me when the first time we met but we can’t mess this up.”
She stopped pacing and faced me, her arms folded, frustration and anger in her eyes were evident. “What did you just say? We can’t mess this up,” she scoffs, “ Edmund Fox, I was never even asked to do this, I have been forced. I guess money is more important to you than other people’s life.”
“Look, I’m not oblivious to your situation. But this is bigger than just you and me. We have to make this work.”
“If you’re going to make my life a living hell, then get ready to meet all my demands,” she looked at me, her gaze sharp. I agreed, there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do with money.
I leaned against the counter, slightly intrigued, “Okay. Let’s hear your demands.”
She looked taken aback by my willingness to go this far. She paused for a second and then spoke,
“First, I want my debts cleared from the bank. Second, I need my own space in this penthouse, I won’t be a prisoner. You wouldn’t touch me or kiss me or even hold my hand until I give you my permission. Third, I want a house under my name along with billion dollars and since you’re so rich, it must be a piece of cake for you. In case you throw me out, I want my own place. And lastly, if we go through with this for a year, I want my license to be reinstated and not only that, but I also want a position in your law firm.”
Her last sentence surprised, I raised my eyebrows, “That’s… unexpected. So you aren’t just a normal delivery girl. Interesting!”
“Yeah! Just before you ask me anything, another condition is that you won’t interfere in any of my personal matters.”
“But your personal matters shouldn’t have any affect on my image in the course of our one year contract. I’ll do my thing and you can do whatever you want,” I make it clear, I won’t be able to live without any s*x for a year and It’s just a contract I don’t want her to indulge my private life.
She took a moment to process, emotions playing on her features. Then she looked at me, determined. “Alright, then we have a deal. ”
“I’ll ask Noah to change the terms on the contract and then you can sign the papers,” I let out a sigh of relief, finally I was able to save my company from being donated, but the war wasn’t over yet. I have to make my father believe in this marriage, and I don’t know how we’re going to live together for an entire year when the girl I’m marrying despises me this much.
“I accept all your demands, but there’s one thing you need to know about me. I don’t want any strings attached, no matter what happens between us,” I say and she gives me a confused look.
“You really think I’ll fall for some egocentric guy like you. In your dreams, baby!”
I know I should have felt hurt by her words but I didn’t, in fact it turned me on. I guess I have found my kink.
Ella’s POV
What does he think of himself, uh. What I have gotten myself into, a year with this self-centered man, how am I going to survive without killing him.
Noah escorted all my stuff to the penthouse. Thankfully, now I didn’t have to worry about getting my stuff back from Aunt Maggie’s house.
That witch, she really thought she’d trade me and I wouldn’t even know. I’m not such a fool, I’m sure Edmund must have paid her to kick me out of her house. No matter how much I try not to think, but I can’t get myself to forget how brutally I was thrown out.
Nikki never liked me and I was aware of this since I first came to live with them, but I never imagined she won’t even stop her mother. What did I ever do to them, I became their slave and did all the work just to get treated like trash.
I still thought of them as family, but they never wanted me in the first place.
“It’s okay Ella! You’ll be fine. One year, just one year. You have endured so much till now, what’s the worst that can happen than this,” I tell myself, trying to calm my nerves but it isn’t helping.
Who am I even kidding, the worst is already happening. I am getting married to the man I have never known, only saw or heard on T.V.
He’s definitely not the man he pretends to be on the screen or in photographs. He is a self-centered and greedy man, who thinks he can do whatever he want with money. I will never forgive for what he has done to me, I will never forgive you Edmund Fox, never.
