Ella’s POV
A maid walked me towards the room where I’ll be living and as soon as I entered, my eyes widened. It was huge, like a palace! The walls were a fancy cream color, and there were big paintings with lots of colors hanging on them. Sunlight poured in through giant windows, making everything sparkle. A gigantic sofa sat against one wall, covered in soft blankets and cushions. In the middle, there was a massive wooden table with intricate carvings. On the other side, there were shelves reaching almost to the ceiling, loaded with all sorts of cool thing and fancy-looking books. I felt like I had stepped into a fairy tale.
I felt like a princess, it was everything I imagined I’d have in my new house with Mark until he betrayed me and made me homeless. I used to believe in love before, but Mark crushed my believes.
My head flooded with the plans I had made with Mark, how we’ll have our own home and we’d run a successful firm together.
I sit on the master bed, it’s soft mattress made me want to lie there all day.

The vibration of my phone startles me, I reach for my phone and see 15 missed calls from Nora.
Shit! How could I forget her, what would I tell her now. I can’t tell her about this deal, she’ll only try to stop me and this isn’t a good move since I know what Edmund is capable of. I don’t her to get involved in this matter.
I take a in a deep breath and answer the phone.
“WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN ELLA, DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I’VE TRIED TO REACH YOU,” Nora yells from the other side and I almost drop my phone.
“I’m so sorry Nora, my phone was on silent and I just saw your calls. I know you’re mad,” I try to calm her down first.
“I went to your Aunt’s house and she told me that you don’t live here anymore and I shouldn’t come looking for you here again. Do you know how worried I was because I couldn’t find you anywhere,” Nora sobs and I can tell how worried she must have been after hearing what Aunt Maggie had said.
“I’m so sorry, Nora. So much happened in just one day that I couldn’t even process things myself. Aunt Maggie kicked me out and-,” before I could complete, Nora cuts me off.
“What! She kicked you out of her house, after everything you’ve done for them,” Nora cursed under her breath and I was glad to have her by my side. She’s the only family I have left now.
“But why didn’t inform me Ella, we could have sorted it out together.”
“Umm..,” I gulp, suddenly my throat felt dry like I haven’t had a drop a water for days.
“The thing is… my boyfriend took me to his penthouse,” I lie to her.
My heart ached as I lied to the one person I love the most in this world. I wanted to cry and spill everything out but I didn’t.
“Your boyfriend…,” Nora hesitated, she was aware of everything that had happened between me and Mark.
“No, not Mark. That chapter is over now,” I say as I open unpack my bags.
“Then who is it? You never told me about anyone before.”
“I was waiting for the right time to tell you this, but things didn’t work out with Aunt Maggie and now I have to tell you about him now,” I try to make it as less obvious as I can, so she wouldn’t question anything.
“I’m so happy for you Ella. Oh my gosh! You should have told me sooner, I’m glad that you’ve moved on from that dickhead Mark.”
“Thank you for understanding, I’ll come meet you in a few days till I sort things out myself,” I buy some time to think about what I’m going to do.
“Sure! But just don’t forget me now that you have a boyfriend, okay. I want you to introduce him to me as well so I can approve of him,” she lets out a chuckle which makes me laugh.
“Take care Ella!”
She hung up the phone and I feel empty inside. Even in this extravagant room, I feel so small and lonely.
I lay on the bed and doze off without realizing.
Knock! Knock!
I hear someone knocking the door. I slowly open my eyes and notice that it’s already dark outside. I’m never going to get rid of my habit of sleeping in stress, why do I do this every single time.
“Yes!” I answer from inside.
“Master Edmund is waiting for you in he lounge, Madam” the maid replies.
“I’ll be down in a minute,” I quickly get up and freshen up.
As I step down the stairs, I see Edmund sitting on the sofa with some papers in his hands.
The contract is finally here and all the hopes of this being a dream were crushed. This was going to be my life from now on.
I sit in front of him, his face clear to me. He’s more handsome in real life than he looks on the screen.
Ella! Get back to your senses. This is not the time for you to check him out. I divert my focus from him and onto the papers he’s holding in his hand.
“Here! Sign it. All the changes have been made according to your demands,” he puts down the papers on the table in front.
“I guess there’s no turning back then,” I pick up the papers and go through them once.
From the corner of my eye I could see Edmund’s gaze was fixed on me as I read the papers.
“I’ve already signed the papers, now it’s your turn to seal our deal,” he says as he adjusts his posture.
“Okay,” I grab the pen from the maid standing beside me. The tension between us was undeniable.
I close my eyes and let out a deep sigh, I was handing over this man my life for a whole year but I had no other choice.
I signed the papers and gave it to the made beside me.
“Ella Wilson, you’re mine now.”
