Chapter 7: Scars from the Past

1879 Words
Claire    I turned on the shower, the sounds of the droplets of the water that came from the shower echoed inside the bathroom. While I wait for the water to turn warm; I proceeded to discard my clothes. When my hand came in contact with the water and I found it to be warm. I stepped under the shower, the warm water gently Cascaded down my body.     I stood under the shower for a while and thought about the current events that had happened in one day. Many questions were still lingering inside my mind, and it was all to be answered by Apollo. It will all be answered at the dinner party which is to be held later.     I started to do my shower routine, applying all of the essentials on my body. The room had became foggy due to the steam that was created by the warm water. The warm water had relaxed my body that was tense.    I need to hurry up, so I won't be late at the dinner party. I stepped out of the shower, and grabbed the dry towel from the rack, as I grabbed it, the rack made a squeaky noise, indicating the rack must've been used many times.    I gently ran the towel across my body to dry myself up. I used another towel to wrap my wet hair. I used a clean cotton to apply a cleanser, and use it to clean my face. After the applying the cleanser, I applied the other essentials to my body and my face.    I looked myself at the mirror, I mentally told my reflection that I can do this. I went outside from the bathroom; My feet padded across the cold floors, it brought me towards the closet to where I kept my dress for the dinner party that was to be held.    As I removed the towel that was wrapped around my body, my fingers mindlessly went towards the my back. Scars that had remained, still bared the memories of the painful past. I turned my back towards the dressing mirror that was beside the closet; the reflection showed my back that was full of the embodiment of the past.   One scar had stood there, the scar that held the most painful memory. I was still haunted by those memories, and I was still running from it. I still remember how the red liquid, scattered across the floor.     I didn't regret having these scars, but that doesn't also mean I enjoyed the damage that had been inflicted upon me. Because without them, I wouldn't be who I am today, maybe.    I shook those thoughts away and stared at my reflection. Then a thought had occured to me: A little bit of make over would do right?   I grabbed the navy dress that had been waiting to be worn by me, the dress that Amelia had gave me was dazzling, the top had a V neck plunge neckline, although the plunge had only ended below my breast. The top fabric was made out of a thick fabric that was layered with a chiffon fabric. Thus the bottom of the dress was floor length, it was a mermaid type dress, that had a slit on the side that showed off my leg.    I mentally said to myself, that time to face the truth.    I sat in-front of the vanity mirror, and started to apply make up. With every dance of the brushes across my face, is me transforming myself into a female that I have always loved. The lights of the vanity mirror shone brightly. I saw myself in my reflection: I still see myself running from the world I have known, and had never told anyone.   The last stroke of the brush against my face had flicked, the powdery cosmetic had dust off the brush as the brush had flicked, the grains of the powder gently glimmered against the light, as they fell on the ground.    I was finished with my make up. Right there at my reflection a woman stood there, a woman who kept running from the past and yet it helped her built a strong facade, but did she managed to build strong walls around her heart?    The last thing that I need to put on my body, was my jewelry. I scanned the objects that was laid down in front of the vanity mirror. I was trying to find the necklace that I had just recently bought, however my eyes had caught an unfamiliar object.   It was an unknown box, the box looked very antique and yet it looked sophisticated and elegant.  The rich mahogany color of the box, made the box stood out in all its glory.    The box had these patterns of spring. There were vines that had been carved on the sides of the box, so it was made to look like the vines were enclosing the box. Floral patterns had decorated the lid of the box. In the middle of the lid of the box a pomegranate.    With curiosity swirling inside me, I opened the box. I was dazzled on what was inside, a beautiful necklace was laid down on a red, velvet cushion. The necklace was not anything I have seem before. It was necklace, and the jewel that was hanging from the necklace. Was a diamond shape silver that acted as the outline of the jewel that was in the middle of the diamond.    The silver outline of the diamond, had these black crystals as its design, and the middle of the silver outline, was a beautiful Padparadscha crystal that dangled. It glimmered so beautifully against the light, that I was so hypnotized by it.    Inside the box there was a hand written letter. I opened it, in hope to see who had sent me this gift. On the paper it had said 'Dear, Claire      I had a hard time convincing Hades to give me one of his crystals, so I can ask Hephaestus to make this necklace as a gift for you. This necklace will help you in your journey, and I shall explain to you at the dinner party on what this necklace can do. Wear this necklace as a part of your outfit, although I know you don't trust us yet, you may not wear it to the dinner party. Thank you'    It is true: I don't trust them yet, I can't wear this necklace yet. Who knows they might have put a spell or curse in it. It would be best to bring this to them, for if a spell was really magically put on this and someone found it.    I grabbed my purse, and I safely stored the necklace in a small jewelry box. In my purse, I placed the small jewelry box that contained the necklace. Since I wasn't wearing any necklace, might as well just some pair of earrings. I grabbed my nude high heels, to pair it up with my outfit.   I looked at myself at the mirror one last time, I trotted towards the and I made sure that I looked the door of my room.    As I walked down the hallway, people were also dressed down for the dinner party. Many women had men to accompany them. They were all laughing and talking as they headed towards the venue, where the dinner party was held.    As I arrived at the entrance of the venue, there was a man that was by the entrance receiving all the invitations.    "May I have your invitation and name ma'am?" The man politely asked me. He held his hand out as a gesture that he wants me to give my 'letter of invitation' to him.    "Claire Bunley." I said my name, as I handed him my invitation.    "Ms. Bunley, this is Sierra she will be escorting you to Mr. Apollo." He said as he gestured his hand towards Sierra. Sierra only smiled at me, and guided me among the venue.    The venue where the dinner party was held, is a huge place. Jazz music was being played, its music drifted across the room. The place was perfect for an evening event, golden jewels and crystal had adorned the walls. The walls were a color of navy blue, the walls had the pattern of diamonds, the lines of the pattern were a subtle beige color, so the patterns of the designs can be seen, and it would give a vibe of elegance of the room.    The room was full of people who were talking, eating and mostly dining. As we were walking I realized we had gone to second floor of the venue, I observed my environment: The second floor was as elegant as how the first floor was decorated. There were many function rooms.    Suddenly Sierra had stopped walking. "Ms. Bunley, Mr Apollo is there waiting for you." She pointed at the table that was separated from the noisy crowd, this area was more quiet, but not the type of quiet were everything was surrounded with silence. It was just that this area was more secluded than the rest.    I thanked Sierra, and she left. I started approach them, as I got near them, I had observed that the girls that walked passed them, would giggle and swoon over them. When I had approached their table-Like a gentleman, Apollo had pulled out a chair, so I can sit on it. I accepted his offer as a way of being polite.     I took a good look at the four men in-front of me. Let me just say this... they all look hot in their tuxedos! They all wore a suits that was in a color of 'midnight blue'.    Hades' hair was now styled in a neat way. Apollo's childish aura, had changed into a dominant aura when he wore the suit. Apollo's suit made him have that dominant aura, even though his inner aura is full of enthusiasm and full of childishness.    "I am glad you could make it, Claire." With a voice full of appreciation, Zeus had said.    "You all look amazing tonight." I complimented them in an elegant manner. Even though there was some small part of me that wants to say that they look hot tonight, but I do not want to scare them away with that kind of creepy behavior.    "So do you Claire." Apollo complimented me as well and I thanked him as a gesture of my appreciation.    After that conversation, a waiter had came by and had served our food to our table. Two types of main dishes were served to us, it was seafood and the other one was pasta. Both main dishes had this delicate aroma that aroused our appetite, the seafood main dish was soft-shell crabs, and a lobster that was coated in olive oil.    Everything that was on the plate was delectable.    "Claire, do you want to eat first or do you want to hear on what is happening?" Hades asked me politely.    "Hades you don't have to pressure her like that." Poseidon said, as he stared at me apologetically.   "No it's okay, I think I would rather hear on what is going on right now." I guess it is time find out, about the plan.
