OUR FIRST DAY

1633 Words
Mayson POV The last few days have been very eventful. Emma confronted Jay, to which he had no choice but to tell her the truth… well, some of it. He told her, told her about the other person but failed to mention that he is a man, but what got me the most is he doesn’t see the harm he was doing, not even when Emma pointed it out to him. He still believes that he hasn’t done anything wrong because his defense is “I made it clear that I don’t want a relationship.” To hell with that… what does it even mean? How can you lead someone on and then tell them you don’t want a relationship? The way I see it, he’s leaving a door open to run out of if something goes wrong or something better comes along. Jay started pressuring me to know what I was doing in the woods that far out, and if I'd been following him. I haven’t answered him yet because I can’t find a good enough excuse to come up with. So, for now, I’m trying to avoid him the best I can. “Mayson!” I heard a soft voice say from beside me and turned around. I didn’t have to open my eyes to see who it was, because I know the voice very well and if I open my eyes, I know it'd go away. I kept my eyes closed a little longer and it was as if I could feel his touch, hear him breathing and smell his scent. It’s as if he’s right here with me. “You have to wake up,” Tylor said, and slowly I opened my eyes hoping to see his face, but I never did. As soon as I open my eyes, I wake up and stare at the empty space beside me. He may have let me go, but I still long for him every night as I climb into an empty bed or walk among humans having to pretend. If only things were different. I lay awake staring at the ceiling of my bedroom until my alarm went off and I knew it was time to get up. Everyone always says that healing takes time, and only time will heal the broken pieces, but I don’t think I’ll ever heal from what has been done to me. Because of them, I will never truly know what I should’ve looked like. All the abuse, my training being taken away, not getting enough food for days, sometimes weeks, really messed up my body. I will never really have a muscular body. I’ll never be taller, and my wolf will never be bigger. Every day I’m reminded of this as I stare at myself in the mirror tracing the scars on my stomach and chest. *Flash back* “I told you to never look me in the eyes!” Tylor yelled, grabbing my jaw, forcing me to look up at him. I tried turning my face away when his grip tightened, but that only made him tighten his grip more. When I couldn’t take the pressure anymore, I made the mistake of pushing him away. He stumbled back, hitting his back against the kitchen counter and the look he gave me would be enough to scare anything away, but I had no choice but to stay. “You just never learn.” Tylor said, stepping closer to me, grabbing my arm and dragging me behind him. If I fought back or make a noise, I know whatever he was planning would be even worse, so I just closed my eyes and made myself numb. As soon as we entered the dungeons, I didn’t even protest because I’ve been down here so many times that it’s like a second room to me. Tylor threw me into an empty cell, and I hit my back against the wall. “If you don’t want to listen, I’ll make you,” Tylor said and walked out, locking the door. I slid to the floor, pulling my knees up to my chest and rested my head on my knees. I didn’t know what was coming, but it wouldn’t be good.” When Tylor came back, he wasn’t alone, Josh and Karlie were standing on either side of him. I looked at them and saw their sinister looks. “Get up.” Tylor said as he unlocked the door and stepped in. I stood up from the floor with shaky legs. I looked at Tyler as he nodded his head and Karlie and Josh each took one of my arms holding it so I couldn’t move. Tylor stepped closer and that’s when I saw it. a small silver blade in his hand. I struggled trying to break free of their hold, but it’s useless knowing they are a lot stronger than I am. “Let me remind you of what happens if you disobey orders,” Tylor said and ripped my shirt open. I went completely numb and still as I felt the silver burn into my skin. As much as it pained, I refused to make a sound. I refused to give them the satisfaction of hearing me scream and beg, because that is what they wanted. When one cut wasn’t enough, Tylor gave me another on my chest, making sure I would never wear V-neck shirts or something that hung too low. I couldn’t bear the pain anymore and passed out. When I woke up, I was still lying on the cold hard floor of the cell I was in. I looked down at my chest and stomach and for the first time I cried and let out everything I'd felt. From that day, I knew I'd have scars forever, because silver is poison to a wolf, a wound made by silver will never heal. *End of flash back* I stood up and walked towards the bathroom and showered, washing away the dream and memory, but they never went away. After I showered, I dressed in black jeans and a white T-shirt with a white hoody. My favorite colors are black, white, and blue, and that is the color of my clothes too. I made myself some toast and coffee and ate in silence until I heard a knock on the door. I stood up and walked towards the door, unlocking it. When I opened the door, Emma stood on the other side, completely dressed and ready. “ It’s still early,” I said and stepped aside for her to come in. “I know, but I want breakfast and coffee.” Emma said, looking at me with a pout. I smiled and shook my head while closing the door. “I’m having toast,” I said, and walked back to the kitchen. “Anything is fine.” Emma said, making herself some toast. I ate mine and watched her eat like she'd never eaten before. “Are you okay?” I asked and her hands stopped mid-way. “My nerves are killing me,” Emma said, and I chuckled. “ You’ll be okay,” I said honestly. “How do you know?” she asked, looking at me confused. “Because you won’t be the only new medical student,” I said. She wiped the amusement from her eyes and looked at me with a blank expression. “You are new, you know,” Emma said, and I let out a sigh. We had orientation and I still couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do, so I just picked the first thing that came to mind and that is architecture. Buildings have always fascinated me, so I thought it could be something I enjoy doing and so I chose it. “Well, I’ll know one person there and, besides, you have my schedule and I have yours, so we’ll know each other’s whereabouts the whole day.” I said trying to make her feel better, and I guess it worked because her worried look was replaced with a soft smile. “I need to do shopping before we come home today,” Emma said, and I looked at her confused. “You don’t even cook, so what shopping are you doing?” I asked with a raised brow. “I’m doing shopping for you because you’re going to cook the whole week and I’m buying snacks for me.” Emma said, looking at me, smiling brightly as if trying to get me not to say no. I crossed my arms on the counter and leaned closer towards her. “And what do I get out of this?” I asked, and she took a second, pretending to be thinking. “Free groceries, of course,” She said, and I laughed. I stood up and took our plates away and walked to get my bag. I don’t have a car, so Emma said I can ride with her until I get one. A while later, we arrived at the university, and everything looked way worse than on orientation day. There were a lot more people and the parking lots were full. “ Who’s the nervous one now?” Emma asked and I could hear the sarcasm in her voice. I gave her a warning look and she swallowed. “Why are you so scary when you do that?” she asked, shivering. I looked away and opened my door. We couldn’t find parking closer to the entrance so we'd have to walk the rest of the way. As we walked, people kept staring and, as if knowing how uncomfortable I am Emma linked her arm with mine and whispered, “I’ll be your pretend girlfriend.” I laughed and patted her hand as people kept staring.
