  PHOEBE'S POV:   Late at night, I opened my eyes. My throat was dry and my mouth felt like the cracked surface of the desert land. There was a lump in my throat that I couldn't swallow. I sat up on the bed and wrapped my hair in a tight bun. My heart skipped a beat when my eyes landed on the man who was sleeping in my bed with me. It was embarrassing that I warmed up my bed for another man a few hours before I was about to get marked by my mate.   Yet my heart was fearing the ceremony in the morning, but was not ashamed of whatever I had done in the darkness of the night. Shaking my head, I tried to swallow hard again.
