9 Exhausted and frustrated, Abby and Seth returned to the front porch swing. Sam was pacing the front walkway, barking into his cell phone. "Anything?" Abby asked Seth, already fairly certain of his answer. He shook his head in response. "You?" he inquired. "Nope," she responded flatly. Both of them watched Sam, knowing that he was their last hope for finding a trail to follow to find Courtney. Seth took her hand in his, squeezing it gently. "He'll find something," he told her gently. "That's one of the great things about Sam. He never gives up." Abby nodded silently, praying that he was right. She didn't want to face a future without her best friend. When her phone started jingling with the mystical wind chimes that indicated an incoming call from Annie, Abby immediately picked up.
