For a second, the only thing I felt was the wind as it blew through my hair. We were falling, I knew that much, but I wasn’t entirely sure what else. My hands were wrapped around the wolf’s neck, Fingers digging into its fur as I held on for dear life. I buried my nose deeper into its mane, breathing in its musky woody scent and for a second, everything feels alright in the world. And then we land. Well technically… We crashed. The wolf’s weight fell directly on top of one of the squad cars, effectively crushing the metal frame underneath its weight. We laid still for a moment, my vision distorted from the vertigo and all the steam around us. The wolf and I panted, heartbeats in sync as we caught our breaths. “There they are! Get that wolf under control.” Heavy footsteps resounded
