"Did you see this morning’s news, Claire?"
Julian asked as he set a mug of hot chocolate in front of her. The man looked remarkably calm, as if the massive storm that had battered them the day before was nothing more than a gentle breeze. Claire looked up, her eyes still slightly heavy with exhaustion, though the tight anxiety squeezing her chest had begun to fade. She reached for her phone, which had been buzzing nonstop with notifications since dawn.
"Not yet. I was afraid to see more insults," Claire whispered softly.
Julian gave a faint smile, an expression he rarely showed. He gestured toward the tablet on the table. "Open it now. I think you’ll like what you see."
