Deeper into the fire

(Dr. Elias Voss's POV) The evening after our second session, I found myself standing at the window of my apartment, whiskey in hand, staring out at the glittering city lights. A habit I rarely indulged in. Normally, after a long day, I would review notes, prepare for the next patient, or read. Tonight, my mind refused to cooperate. Nova Kane. Her words kept replaying on loop. The way she had described her family's illusions. The deliberate way she had leaned in and told me she'd fantasized about me while pleasuring herself. The raw honesty mixed with calculated seduction. It was a masterful performance - and yet, I couldn't shake the feeling that some of it had been real. I set the glass down harder than intended. This was exactly the kind of situation I had sworn to avoid. Boundary violations started with thoughts like these. With noticing the way a patient's pain called to something in you. With allowing yourself to become the fix they were seeking in all the wrong ways. Dr. Raymond Cross's warning from earlier today echoed in my head: "The Kane family is high-profile, Elias. One misstep and it could damage the entire practice. Stay objective." Objective. Right. I ran a hand through my hair and moved to my desk, opening her file again. The blank space where my notes should be stared back at me mockingly. What could I possibly write that remained truly professional? Patient exhibits strong transference and uses s****l provocation as a defense mechanism against deep emotional voids stemming from family neglect. It was accurate. But it didn't capture the full truth - that something in her chaos was stirring parts of me I had buried long ago. The parts that understood emptiness. The parts that knew what it was like to wear control like armor. I closed the file. Tomorrow's session would be different. I would reassert boundaries. Redirect. Protect both of us from the dangerous game she was playing. Even as I told myself this, a quiet voice in the back of my mind whispered the truth I didn't want to acknowledge: I was already looking forward to seeing her again. (Nova Kane's POV) I arrived at the third session already buzzing. My body still remembered the way Elias had looked at me last time - that microscopic fracture in his perfect composure. It had kept me going through another night of restless, unsatisfying touches. I'd tried to chase the high with my fingers and toys again, but every orgasm felt flatter than the last. Because none of them were him. The realization both thrilled and terrified me. I stepped into his office wearing a deep red dress that clung to every curve like a second skin. The neckline plunged dangerously low, and the slit up the side made it easy to show leg when I sat. No bra. No panties. My n*****s were already tight just from the anticipation of seeing him again. Elias was standing by the window when I entered, looking every bit the composed professional in his tailored shirt and slacks. But his shoulders seemed a little tighter than usual. Good. I was getting to him. "Doctor Voss," I greeted him with a slow smile, closing the door behind me with a soft click. "You look like you've been thinking about me." He gestured toward the couch with practiced calm. "Please, have a seat, Nova. Let's continue where we left off." I didn't sit right away. Instead, I walked slowly around the room, trailing my fingers along the edge of a bookshelf, deliberately invading his space. "Where we left off... You mean when I told you I fantasized about you f*****g me while I was destroying my p***y the other night?" His jaw flexed. I smiled wider. I finally lowered myself onto the couch, but this time I didn't cross my legs modestly. I let the slit in my dress fall open, exposing smooth thigh all the way up to my hip. My pulse raced as I watched him notice - and then force his gaze back to my face. "You're very good at this," I said softly, tilting my head. "Pretending you're not affected. But I can see it, Doctor. The way your hands stay so still, like you're afraid of what they might do if you let them move. The way you breathe just a little deeper when I talk about how wet I get thinking about you." I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees, giving him a clear view down the front of my dress. "Yesterday after I left here, I went home and tried to f**k the ache away. Again. But all I could picture was your hands on me. Your voice telling me to be a good girl while you finally gave me what I needed." My voice dropped to a husky whisper. "Do you have any idea how dangerous that is for a girl like me? I've spent years numbing myself with strangers and expensive toys. And now this... this spark you give me... it's making everything else feel even more empty." I paused, letting real vulnerability bleed through the seduction for a moment. "My father called me this morning. He wanted to know if I was 'making progress.' He didn't ask how I was feeling. He asked if I was still embarrassing the family name. Meanwhile, I know for a fact he was with his latest mistress last night. The great Victor Kane, preaching legacy while he cheats on my mother, who's doing the exact same thing with her lover. They built this perfect empire on lies. And I'm the one they sent to therapy because I can't stop trying to feel something." I stood up again, unable to stay still. The energy between us was crackling. I moved closer to his desk, close enough to lean against the edge of it. "Tell me something honest, Elias," I said, using his first name deliberately for the first time. "Does it turn you on knowing I'm sitting here with nothing underneath this dress? That I'm already wet just from being in the same room as you? That every session makes me crave you more than the last?" I reached out slowly and brushed a single fingertip along the edge of his desk, not touching him, but close enough that the intention was clear. "I'm not just playing anymore," I confessed, my voice softer now. "At first, yes. I wanted to break you. To make the unbreakable therapist lose control. But now... I think about you when I'm supposed to be smiling next to Marcus at dinner. I think about you when my so-called best friend Jade is pretending she cares about me. You're becoming the only real thing in my life. And that terrifies me. Because if you reject me... if you stay in control... I don't know what I'll do." My breathing had grown heavier. My thighs pressed together instinctively, seeking friction. The emptiness was still there, but it felt different now - sharper, more focused. All of it pointed at him. I held his gaze, no longer smiling. Just raw, hungry honesty mixed with desperate want. "So tell me, Doctor... how much longer do you think you can resist before we both lose control?”
