Chapter 58Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, 2006Cary dumped the bucket of ice and water from his corner of the ring over the blazing mass of canvas, dousing the worst of the flames. Tossing aside the bucket, he grabbed the folds that weren't still burning and heaved off the canvas, exposing the babies trapped beneath it. Their stroller was hot to the touch, and the plastic handles were half-melted, so he scooped out the babies. They screamed and kicked as he tucked them against his chest like footballs and ran them out of the tent. He handed them to the first person he saw--a stout old woman in a black bowler hat and wildly colorful serape--and sprinted back into the danger zone.
