His face was tanned and creased, his blonde hair thin, his mustache gone, but she still knew him. He didn't seem to have recognized her, though. "Excuse me," he said. "Which way to the chapel?" Olenka opened her mouth to give him directions, then changed her mind. "I'll show you." She dropped her scrub brush into the bucket of dirty water and got up from her knees.
