CHAPTER 7
Alec stood silently before Lord Kyron, eyes lowered, hands clasped behind his back. The only thing he was grateful for was that he hadn’t been with Jesse when he had been summoned. Until that one moment he had been certain he could fight the familiar compulsion, but no sooner had the tug upon his soul come, the firewood had dropped from his arms and his body betrayed him.
It was impossible to describe the feeling. He was still present, aware, but without control. He felt as if he had been torn in two, part of him needing to obey while another part clawed desperately to defy.
