Alec tiptoed away, her almost silent pleas breaking his heart as she begged Levi to remain with her. Or so he had thought, until he had heard her whisper his name. The sound of her gentle sobs drifted on the wildflower-scented wind as he returned, carrying the only warm thing he could find.
