CHAPTER 11 Jesse crept through the house on tiptoes. She had waited until Freya had looked in on her and the deep reverberation of Micah’s voice had faded into quiet snores. The Alvar home was amazing, as would be expected for a clan alpha. It was grand without being grandiose or overbearing. The thick plush carpet of the staircase was soft beneath her feet, muffling any sound of her footfall, should anyone be listening. The kitchen, however, had been tiled, and each step padded upon the cool surface. “I wasn’t doing nothin’,” a small voice said defensively. The freezer was open.
